insteadofsettingafixeddepth,youcansetaminimumandmaximumdepth,thenassign
anothercontrolsourcetodeterminehowmuchdepthyouget.Trythisexample.(MakesureSrc1
issetto
OFFfirst,sothetwosourcesdon’tinteract.)StartwithProgram199,andpressEdit.
PressthePITCHsoftbuttontoselectthePITCHpage.SettheSrc2parametertoavalueofLFO1,
thensettheMinimumDepthparameterto100ct,andMaximumDepthto1200ct
.Thensetthe
DepthControlparametertoMWheel.ThisletsyouusetheModWheeltovarythedepthofthe
oscillationinpitchgeneratedbytheLFO.
Now,whentheModWheelisdown,thepitchwilloscillatebetweenasemitone(100ct)upanda
semitonedown(the
defaultwaveformforLFO1isasinewave,whichgoespositiveand
negative).WiththeModWheelup,thepitchwilloscillatebetweenanoctaveupand anoctave
down.
SincetheModWheelisacontinuouscontrol,youcanachieveanyamountofdepthcontrol
betweentheminimumandmaximum.
IfyouhadsettheDepthControltoSustain,forexample,
thenyoudgetonlytwolevelsofdepthcontrol:themaximum(1200cents)withyourMIDI
controllerssustainpedaldown,ortheminimum(100cents)withthesustainpedalup.
