Eachparameteronthispagehastwovalues,aslistedbelow.Fortheenvelopesegments,thefirst
(upper)valueisthedurationofthesegment,andthesecondistheamplitudelevelatthe
completionofthesegment.FortheLoopparameter,thevaluesdefinehowtheenvelopeloops,
andhow
manytimestheloopcycles.
Attack Segment Times
Theseindicatehowlong(inseconds)ittakesforthecurrentlayersamplitudetoreachitsfinal
levelfromitsstartinglevel.
Attack Segment Levels
Thesearethefinallevelsthateachsegmentachievesatcompletion.Thelevelsareexpressedas
percentagesofthemaximumpossibleamplitudefor
thecurrentlayer.(Themaximum possible
amplitudeforthecurrentlayercanbesetwiththeLevelparameterontheDSPCTLpagebypressingthe
AMPsoftbutton.)Attacksegment1alwaysstartsatzeroamplitude,andmovestoitsassigned
levelinthetimespecifiedbyitstimevalue.So
thedefaultsettingsof0secondsand100%mean
thatthefirstsegmentoftheattack sectionmovesinstantlyfromzeroamplitudeto100%
amplitude.IncreasethetimeofAttacksegment1ifyouwantthesoundtorampupmoreslowly.
Attacksegments2and3affectthesoundonly
whenyousetanonzerovaluefortime.Theywill
thenmovetotheirassignedlevelsinthetimespecif ied.Theirstartinglevelsareequaltothe
finallevelsoftheprecedingsegment.
Decay Segment
Thedecaysectionhasonlyonesegment.Ithasvaluesfortimeandlevel,justasfor
theattack
section.Thedecaysectionbeginsassoonastheattacksectionhasbeencompleted.Itst artsatthe
sameamplitudelevelastheattacksegmentprecedingit,andmovestoitsassignedlevelinthe
timespecified.Youllhearanote’sdecaysectiononlywhentheattacksectionis
completed
beforeaNoteOffmessageisgeneratedforthatnote.
Tocreatea sustainingenvelope,simplysettheDecaysegment’sleveltoanonzerovalue.
Release Segments
Liketheattackanddecaysections,eachofthethreesegments inthereleasesectionhasvalues
fortimeandlevel.Eachsegmentreachesits
assignedlevelinthetimespecifiedforthatsegment.
Releasesegment1startsattheNoteOffeventforeachnote,atthecurrentamplitudelevelof
thatnote—whetherit’sinthe attacksectionorthedecaysection.Itthenmovestoitsassigned
levelinthetime specified.Release
segments2and3startatthefinallevelsofthesegments
