Chapter 10 Setting Up Network Connections 137
Using Fax/Modem mode with the wireless modem
To set up Fax/Modem
You can use your Kyocera 7135 smartphone just like a standard external modem to your
desktop computer or laptop. You can also use it to send or receive faxes from the computer.
Notice, however, that you cannot make or receive voice calls or use any other applications while
the modem is in Fax/Modem mode. Incoming phone calls will be redirected to voice mail.
Opening any other application terminates the modem call.
1. Tap to view the Applications screen.
2. Tap Fax/Modem .
3. Tap Settings. These settings identify the serial communications settings between your
computer and the Kyocera 7135 smartphone.
4. Change these settings to match your computer’s settings. Refer to your computer user guide
if necessary.
5. Tap Done.
To use Fax/Modem
1. Connect the phone to the cable. If the cable is attached to the port you use for data
synchronization, turn off HotSync Manager on your computer. If you are using a data cable
on a different port than the one you use for synchronization, it is not necessary to turn off
HotSync Manager.
2. Tap to view the Applications screen.
3. Tap Fax/Modem .
You see status information beginning with “Initializing Modem” and continuing to
“Ready to Send.”
