2. To hear a tone for any of these changes in phone service, put a check mark in the appropriate
check box.
3. Tap when you are finished to return to the Applications screen.
Setting Phone Service preferences
The Phone Service preferences control your ability to switch between phone lines, choose roaming
options, enable CHAP authentication, force digital and analog modes, and specify network
sharing with emergency services.
1. Tap to view the Applications screen.
2. Tap to display the last Phone Preferences screen you used.
3. Tap in the upper-right corner and select Phone Service.
Lights Only
When you receive an incoming call, the backlight flashes to signal the call.
The phone does not ring.
A call is missed
You hear a single beep every minute while the “Missed calls” message
is on the screen.
Voice privacy is
lost or gained
You hear a beep when you lose or gain Voice Privacy. Voice Privacy
(if available from your service provider) uses a more encrypted
transmission.
Each minute passes
during a call
You hear a single beep every minute during a call.
Phone is roaming
You hear two beeps when the phone moves in or out of your home
service area. When the phone is roaming, you may be billed at a
higher rate.
Service is lost
or gained
You hear three beeps when the phone moves in or out of service areas.
When the phone cannot locate a service area, you cannot make or
receive calls.
