Setting General preferences
To set sleep mode delay
Sleep mode is the length of time that screen goes into sleep mode after the PDA has been sitting
open and idle without being used. To set the sleep mode delay, tap beside
Off After and choose
between
30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, and Never when open.
To set general sound preferences
Within the General preferences screen, you can also adjust the volume of system sounds, alarms,
and games sounds.
1. To adjust the volume of system sounds, tap beside System Sound. Select High, Medium,
Low, or Off. This setting controls the volume of the phone ringer and other beeps and clicks
when you tap items on the screen or press keys.
2. To adjust the volume of alarms, tap beside Alarm Sound. Select High, Medium, Low, or
Off. This setting controls the sound of alerts you set, for example, to remind you of a meeting.
3. To adjust the volume of game sounds, tap beside Game Sound. Select High, Medium, Low,
or Off. This setting controls the sound effects in built-in games and any third-party games you
have downloaded to your Kyocera smartphone.
To turn Beam Receive on or off
When the Beam Receive feature is turned on, your phone can receive information that has been
“beamed” from other devices with infrared ports, including other Kyocera smartphones, Palm
devices, and laptops.
1. Open the General Preferences screen.
2. Tap On in the Beam Receive line.
3. To turn the beaming feature off, tap Off in the Beam Receive line.
To adjust the screen contrast
1. To adjust the contrast of the screen, open the General Preferences screen.
2. Tap Contrast.
3. Drag the slider bar left to decrease the difference between the light and dark portions of the
screen, and drage the slider bar right to increase the difference between the light and dark
portions of the screen.
4. Tap Done when finished.
To adjust the screen brightness
1. To adjust the contrast of the screen, open the General Preferences screen.
2. Tap Brightness.
3. Drag the slider bar left to make the screen lighter or right to make it darker.
4. Tap Done when finished.
