HLC-IR Infrared Headlight Covers Black Out Visible Light for Military Humvees
Part #: HLC-IR
Aluminum head light covers holds 7-inch diameter infrared lens to black out visible light. The headlight filter cover
blacks out visible light, enabling HMMWV (Hummer/HUMVEE) operators to move covertly at night with supporting
night vision optics. These headlight covers encapsulate the headlight completely, containing visible light and emitting
only infrared wave length light.
THIS PRODUCT IS FOR ONE HEADLIGHT COVER AND NOT A PAIR.
The aluminum housing is machined from aircraft grade aluminum in Fort Worth Texas. Material certifications
available for Berry Amendment compliance. The housing has three slots that align with the existing mounting screws
securing the headlight assembly. The housing also includes a retaining snap ring for the lens. An entire headlight
cover assembly is not required if the lens is damaged, as damaged lenses can be changed easily in the field.
Installation and maintenance only require a few minutes.
The 7-inch diameter, 1/8 inch thick lens is composed borofloat glass (tempered glass characteristics) with vacuum
chamber applied coatings, producing 850 nm cutoff. The infrared lens hides visible light and emits infrared light. Our
lens has a 90% transmission rate (spectral available upon request). In other words, 90% of the light produced by the
headlights is projected past the lens. Alternative headlight covers made of polycarbonate/polymer blends only allow
20% transmission. Operators will see nearly 3 times farther with this headlight cover than polycarbonate blend
covers. In addition, this lens is manufactured in the Dallas Fort Worth, not China.
A single 7 inch OD snap ring holds the polycarbonate protective lens, IR lens and 2 silicone gaskets in place. Any
pair of pliers, snap ring pliers or military issue Leatherman knife sets can be used to release and replace the snap
ring. The silicone gaskets are reusable and the lenses can be changed in the field in under 30 seconds in the event of
