Accuracy of GPS
The GPS watch is accurate to 3 metres CEP (50%)
outdoors. The specification of accuracy refers to
so-called 50% CEP (circular error probability).
This means that with excellent satellite reception, 50%
of all measurements are located within a circle with
the specified radius of 3 m. However, this also means
that half of the measurement points are outside of this
radius.
But 95% of all measurement points are located within
a circle with twice the specified radius. With excellent
satellite reception, nearly all points are located within a
circle with a radius of 6 m.
