If I had just two words to describe 2017 it would be PERSEVERANCE
and PRIDE. We started 2017 with a wish list as long as my arm. We knew
what we wanted to accomplish in 2017 and in many cases, we knew what
we needed to do to get there, it was just a matter of perseverance. As
we began 2017, the management team at Packard had aggressive goals;
to protect our employees in this drastically unstable world, to secure our
foundation in this industry and to continue to grow our commitment to our
customers. It may have taken us almost all of 2017 to get there, but we
persevered, and we succeeded in every goal.
In August after a lot of blood, sweat, tears and tons of support we
successfully completed the transition to a 100% Employee Owned
company. The purpose of this ESOP is to enable eligible employees to:
share in the growth and prosperity of the company; and acquire benecial
stock ownership interests in the company. This evolution allows Packard
to stabilize ownership while insisting on a continuity of culture that in many
cases simply doesn’t exist when companies change hands. Completing
this transaction accomplished our rst “big-picture” goal for 2017…protect
our employees.
Securing our foundation…this proved to be a much more daunting
task if you can believe it. In October, we made our presence known in
Kennesaw by relocating our corporate ofces across town to a brand-new
space almost twice the size at 154,000 sq. feet of warehousing and ofces!
In no time, a core group of managers organized, prioritized and mobilized
our employees AND inventory. We were moved in and set-up without any
major breaks in shipping or service. This move will make us a force to be
reckoned with as we have paired up our team with a well-known shipping
powerhouse to raise our efciency to the next level.
The coming year will not be without change and excitement either. At
present, we have plans to add yet another Distribution Center in the 1st
Quarter of 2018 bringing the total to three. This addition will serve our West
Coast customers with greater shipping prociency, in some cases cutting
transit time in half. This is just one way in which we continue to grow our
commitment to our customers… greater availability, countless options,
and superior service.
This newest catalog afrms our pledge to expand our selection of products
that you and your customers need to help you grow your businesses. We
have added well over 1,000 items to this catalog in the hopes that you will
have more reason to trust all your HVACR replacement parts to Packard.
As of today, all the enhancements we have made in 2017 have positioned
us for the next 10 years. When I take time to think about what we have
achieved as a team my heart is full. The PRIDE I have in my team, my
Packard family, is overwhelming. I sincerely hope that you sense that pride
when you move forward with Packard. We invite you to take this journey
with us, but remember the words of Margaret Shepard, American heiress
and primary philanthropist of the YMCA, “sometimes your only available
transportation is a leap of faith”.
