Delay on break relays prevent a compressor from starting within a specied period
of time after being de-energized. It can prevent short cycling of the compressor,
that is, starting too quickly after it has completed an operating cycle. Short cycling
can result in the loss of oil in the crankcase, liquid ood-back, and motor insulation
failure. These can all lead to premature compressor failure. The time delay relay is
also eective in helping to prevent a scroll compressor from starting in the wrong
rotation.
