Advice for ironing various fabrics
General rule
Use steam for all kinds of fabrics. (You can naturally also iron certain fabrics without steam if you prefer).
To obtain even better ironing results and to extend the length of time before having to refill the water tank
go over once using steam, then again without steam to dry the fabric.
Adjusting the temperature of the iron
The temperature control knob on the upper side of your iron serves to regulate the temperature of the sole
plate and does not affect the quantity or the temperature of the steam produced. We recommend ironing
all types of fabric at the same temperature (position A), as professionals do.
Silk
Iron silk as usual, using steam (for dark silk it is advisable to use the Softpressing sole-plate which you may obtain
separately at your sales point).
Wool and angora pullovers
Steam the garment without touching, from a height of about 10 cm, then pick the garment up and shake
it to restore its original volume and shape.
Removing creases
Suspending the garment by hand or on a hanger, lightly touch the fabric with the iron using steam.
Attention: creases can easily be removed from practically all types of fabric this way, with the exception of
cotton, linen and certain kinds of silk. If a fabric does not respond well to this kind of crease removal, place
it on the ironing board and iron it in the normal manner. For sleeves, use a small sleeveboard.
Special fabrics
Velvet, corduroy velvet, jersey
If not using the
Softpressing sole-plate
, steam the garment without touching from a height of about 1 cm,
then smooth out the creases by hand.
