Proper Ladder Safety and Installation Procedures
When working outdoors on a ladder there are some very important precautions
you must take to ensure your safety.
The ladder should have at least a 4:1 ratio when set against the house, that is,
there must be a 4 foot base per 16 foot rise.
The Ladder feet should be placed firmly on solid ground. Do not set ladder up on
slippery, sloped or uneven surfaces.
Secure the ladder to the roof or gutter by using a rope or bungee cord to tie the
ladder to the gutter or better still use standoff arms at the top of the ladder.
Never reach out more than an arm’s length on either side of the ladder and always
have at least two points of contact on the ladder at all times.
Never set a ladder up near power lines or other electrical wiring.
Always have a second person attending on the ground when you are on the ladder.
Recognize Your Limitations. If you think you are too high on the ladder then you
probably are. Retreat off the ladder and call a professional to do the installation.
All gutters to be fitted with Leaf Shifter should be thoroughly cleaned out, all
leaves, debris, and roof grit should be removed and the gutters washed out, if
possible.
All downspouts should be cleared of any obstruction, especially where there are
elbows.
All gutters should be checked to ensure that they are properly sloped towards the
downspouts.
All Spikes and hangers should be securely tightened. Hangers should be added
where needed.
Remove the Peel & Seal plastic from the back of the Product.
Insert Leaf Shifter into the gutter so that the exposed glue side presses tightly
against the back of the gutter or fascia board.
The product will straddle over the spikes or Hangers.
Tuck the front portion of the filter under the front lip of the gutter, it should be
snug between the hangers and pinched tight right at the hanger.
Install the lengths end to end (Do not leave any gaps) until you reach the end of
the run, and then simply cut off with a scissors or serrated knife whatever excess
is not needed.
Leaf Shifter should have a smooth and slightly forward sloped finish when
installed correctly.
