Base 10 Blocks make math concepts come alive by providing children with a
manipulative that they can see and touch. By using Base 10 Blocks, students
are better able to understand the relationships between ones, tens, hundreds,
and thousands, which helps build an understanding of place value. Develop
other math skills with Base 10 Blocks such as: building numbers, comparing and
computing numbers, and developing addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division skills.
This giant-sized Magnetic Base 10 Set gives teachers an efcient way to
demonstrate Base 10 concepts. Use these magnetic pieces on any magnetic
receptive surface such as a whiteboard or chalkboard.
Sample Activities:
Zero as Place Holder
Use the magnetic pieces to build a variety of numbers using zero as a place
holder (for example: 407; 80; 250; 900). For each number you build, students
should write the number on a place-value chart, using the zero as needed.
Addition with Regrouping
Teach the method of addition by regrouping.
To add two or more numbers, start by representing
each number with the magnetic Base 10 Blocks.
Set of 131 pieces includes:
100 Units (Ones) 20 Rods (Tens)
10 Flats (Hundreds) 1 Thousand Cube (Thousands)
