HISTOGRAM
Histogram represents the brightness distribution in the picture. The
horizontal axis shows the graduated values from black (left)
through gray to white (right). The vertical axis corresponds to the
number of pixels at each brightness level.
This form of representation – in conjunction with the impression of
the actual image – allows an additional quick and easy assessment
of the exposure setting.
Select Capture Assistants in the main menu
Select Histogram in the submenu
Function activation (On) or deactivation (Off)
Notes
The histogram will only appear when the shutter button is tapped
if the function Exposure Simulation is set to Release button half
pressed (see p. 67).
The histogram is always based on the brightness displayed, i.e.
depending on the settings used, it may not represent the final
exposure.
In picture mode, the histogram should be regarded as a "trend
indicator" and not as a depiction of the exact numbers of pixels.
The histograms when reviewing and taking a picture may differ
slightly from one another.
The histogram function is not available for the simultaneous
playback of multiple thumbnails or enlarged pictures.
