A easily identified detail in the frame is also
necessary for focusing. If this detail does not
happen to be in the centre of an interesting
picture area, the camera again has to be
moved; the dark/light distribution can of course
be checked at the same time. The two pictures
above were taken in this way.
Left: focusing and exposure metering on the
boy on the right in the left-hand window - the
camera is returned to the desired picture area
- considerable change in exposure value, as
the exposure meter now covers predominantly
white details - move the camera therefore to
the left and point the lens down for renewed
exposure metering (metering field of the
exposure meter is partially outside the subject
area) - return to the original subject area -
shoot.
