To use unrestricted automatic setting
4. In this sub-menu, select
OK.
By factory default, the automatic setting uses sensitivities up to
ISO
800 and shutter speeds of up to 1/Focal length.
Note:
By factory default, the
Maximum ISO function is limited to ISO 800.
To restrict the automatic setting range
4. In this sub-menu, select
Set maximum ISO and/or Set maximum
exposure time.
•Selecting
Set maximum ISO displays a list of available values,
while Set maximum exposure time displays a further sub-menu
containing the alternatives
1/Focal length and Manual
setting.
5. In the
Set maximum ISO sub-menu, select the highest sensitivity
to be used, and thus the range within which the automatic setting
will operate, or in the
Set maximum exposure time sub-menu
select either
1/Focal length
2
if you want to leave it up to the
camera to ensure blur-free shutter speeds, or
Manual setting.
When using 1/Focal length does not switch to a higher sensitivity
if the shutter speed would fall below the
1/Focal length
threshold due to lower brightness, e.g. at slower speeds than
1/60s with a 50mm lens.
6. In the
Manual setting sub-menu, select the slowest shutter
speed you want to specify (
1/2s - 1/500s ; in whole steps).
7. Confirm your setting by pressing the
SET or INFO button.
Note:
When using automatic bracketing (see p. 186) the following rule
applies:
The sensitivity automatically determined by the camera for the
uncorrected picture is also used for all other pictures in a series, i.e.
this ISO value is not changed during a series. This may mean that the
slowest shutter speed specified under
Set maximum exposure time
is exceeded.

This function requires the use of coded lenses or setting of the lens type used in
the menu (see p. 162).
