Arrangingyourworkspace

Arrangeyourworkspacetosuityourneedsandthekindofworkyoudo.Thissectionprovidesinformation

aboutthefactorsthataffectthewayyouarrangeyourworkspace.

Glareandlighting

Positionthemonitortominimizeglareandreﬂectionsfromoverheadlights,windows,andotherlightsources.

Reﬂectedlightfromshinysurfacescancauseannoyingreﬂectionsonyourscreen.Whenpossible,place

themonitoratrightanglestowindowsandotherlightsources.Ifnecessary,reduceoverheadlighting

byturningofflightsorusinglowerwattagebulbs.Ifyouinstallthemonitornearawindow,usecurtains

orblindstoblockthesunlight.Youcanadjustthebrightnessandcontrastcontrolsonthemonitorasthe

roomlightingchangesthroughouttheday.

Whereitisimpossibletoavoidreﬂectionsortoadjustthelighting,anantiglareﬁlterplacedoverthescreen

mightbehelpful.However,theseﬁltersmightaffecttheclarityoftheimageonthescreen;trythemonlyafter

youhaveexhaustedothermethodsofreducingglare.

Aircirculation

Thecomputerproducesheat.Thecomputerhasafanthatpullsinfreshairandforcesouthotairthrough

theairvents.Blockingtheairventscancauseoverheating,whichmightresultinamalfunctionordamage.

Positionthecomputersothatnothingblockstheairvents;usually,51mm(2inches)ofairspaceissufﬁcient.

Ensurethattheventedairisnotblowingonpeople.

Electricaloutletlocationsandcablelengths

•Lengthofpowercordsorpoweradapters
