Youmighthavetogentlytwisttheheatsinkandfanassemblytofreeitfromthemicroprocessor.
Donottouchthethermalgreasewhilehandlingtheheatsinkandfanassembly.
8.Positionthenewheatsinkandfanassemblyonthesystemboardsothatthefourscrewsarealigned
withtheholesinthesystemboard.Ensurethattheheatsinkandfanassemblycablefacestowardthe
microprocessorfanconnectoronthesystemboard.
9.Followthefollowingsequencetoinstallthefourscrewstosecurethenewheatsinkandfanassembly.
Donotover-tightenthescrews.
a.Partiallytightenscrew1,thenfullytightenscrew2,andthenfullytightenscrew1.
b.Partiallytightenscrew3,thenfullytightenscrew4,andthenfullytightenscrew3.
10.Connectthecableofthenewheatsinkandfanassemblytothemicroprocessorfanconnectoronthe
systemboard.See“Partsonthesystemboard”onpage6.
11.Positiontheheatsinkfanductonthetopofthenewheatsinkandfanassemblyasshown.Then,press
theheatsinkfanductstraightdownuntilitsnapsintoposition.

suchasparallel-connectorassignments(configuration).Acoin-cellbatterykeepsthisinformationactive
whenyouturnoffthecomputer.
Thecoin-cellbatterynormallyrequiresnochargingormaintenancethroughoutitslife;however,nocoin-cell
batterylastsforever.Ifthecoin-cellbatteryfails,thedate,time,andconfigurationinformation(including
passwords)arelost.Anerrormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnonthecomputer.
