Ifapower-onpasswordisset,pressanykeytodisplaythepromptforthepower-onpasswordand
thentypethecorrectpasswordandpressEnter.
Iftheseitemsarecorrectlyset,andthescreenremainsblank,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,onlyawhitepointerisdisplayedonablankscreen.
Solution:Ifyouhavemodifiedapartitiononyourharddiskdriveorsolid-statedrivebyusingpartition
software,informationaboutthatpartition,orthemasterbootrecordmighthavebeendestroyed.
Dothefollowingtotrytosolvetheproblem:
1.Turnoffthecomputer,andthenturnitonagain.
2.Ifyoustillseeonlythepointeronthescreen,dothefollowing:
–Ifyouhaveusedthepartitionsoftware,examinethepartitionontheharddiskdriveorsolid-state
drivebyusingthesoftware,andrecoverthepartitionifrequired.
–Usetherecoverysolutionstorestorethesystemtothefactorydefaultstate.
Iftheproblempersists,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:Myscreengoesblankwhilethecomputerison.
Solution:Yourscreensaverorpowermanagementmighthavebeenenabled.Doeitherofthefollowing:
–Touchthetouchpadorpressakeytoexitthescreensaver.
–Pressthepowerbuttontoresumethecomputerfromsleeporhibernation.
Externalmonitorproblems
•Problem:Theexternalmonitorisblank.
Solution:Tobringuptheimage,pressthedisplay-modeswitchingkeyandselectthedesired
monitor.Iftheproblempersists,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoanothercomputertomakesurethatitworks.
2.Reconnecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer.
3.Refertothemanualshippedwiththeexternalmonitortochecktheresolutionsandrefreshratesthat
aresupported.
–Iftheexternalmonitorsupportsthesameresolutionasthecomputerdisplayorahigherresolution,
viewoutputontheexternalmonitororonboththeexternalmonitorandthecomputerdisplay.
–Iftheexternalmonitorsupportsalowerresolutionthanthecomputerdisplay,viewoutputonthe
externalmonitoronly.(Ifyouviewoutputonboththecomputerdisplayandtheexternalmonitor,
theexternalmonitorscreenwillbeblankordistorted.)
•Problem:Youcannotsetahigherresolutionthanthepresentoneonyourexternalmonitor.
Solution:Ensurethatthemonitorinformationiscorrect.Dothefollowing:
1.Right-clickanywhereonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutton.
2.Clicktheiconforthedesiredmonitor(theMonitor-2iconisfortheexternalmonitor).
3.ClickAdvancedSettings.
