1.GotoControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound.

•Problem:Recordingsmadeusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.

Solution:MakesurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:

1.GotoControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound➙Sound.

2.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.

3.SelectMicrophone,andclickthePropertiesbutton.

4.ClicktheLevelstab,andmovetheMicrophoneBoostsliderupwards.

5.ClickOK.

Note:Fordetailsaboutcontrollingvolume,refertoyourWindowsonlinehelp.

•Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.

Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisﬁxedbythehardwareand

cannotbechanged.

•Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioprogramsareused.

Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundprogramsareused.The

programsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettings

themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheapplicationhasslidersavailableto

controlthesoundfromwithintheprogram.

•Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.

Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot

completelymuteeitherchannel.

•Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.

Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.Thisisbecausethebuilt-insynthesizersoftwaredoes

notsupportthecontrol.

•Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffevenifyousettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.

Solution:YoustillcanhearsomesoundeventhoughyouhavesettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.

Toturnoffthesoundcompletely,gototheMastervolumecontrolandselectMutespeakers.

•Problem:Whenyouconnectaheadphonetoyourcomputerwhileplayingsound,aspeakerdoesnot

producesound.

Solution:Oncetheheadphoneisattached,thestreamingisautomaticallyredirectedtoit.Ifyouwant

tolistentosoundfromthespeakersagain,besuretosetthosespeakersasthedefaultdevice.The

procedureisasfollows:

1.GotoControlPanel.ChangetheviewofControlPanelfromCategorytoLargeiconsorSmallicons.

2.ClickSmartAudio.TheSmartAudiowindowopens.

3.Lookattheplaybackdevices.Ifyouhaveattachedaheadphone,theheadphonewillbeautomatically

setasthedefaultdevice,andtheiconforthatheadphonewillbechecked.

4.Tosetadifferentdeviceasthedefault,double-clicktheiconforthosespeakers.Thaticonwill

nowhaveacheckmark.
