Problem:Theharddiskdrivedoesnotwork.
Solution:OntheStartupmenuofThinkPadSetup,makesurethattheharddiskdriveisontheBoot
priorityorderlist.IfitisontheExcludedfrombootorderlist,itisdisabled.Selecttheentryforitonthe
listandpresstheShift+1key.ThismovestheentrytotheBootpriorityorderlist.
Problem:Aftersettingaharddiskpasswordontheharddiskdriveofthecomputer,youmovedthedrive
toanothercomputer.Nowyoucannotunlocktheharddiskpassword.
Solution:Yourcomputersupportsanenhancedpasswordalgorithm.Computersolderthanyoursmight
notsupportsuchasecurityfunction.

Problem:WhenyoucompressfilesorfoldersbyuseofthedatacompressionfunctioninWindows,and
thendecompressthem,theprocessofwritingtoorreadingfromthefilesorfoldersisslow.
Solution:ApplythediskdefragmentationtoolinWindowsforfasteraccesstothedata.
Asoftwareproblem
Problem:Anapplicationdoesnotruncorrectly.
Solution:Ensurethattheproblemisnotbeingcausedbytheapplication.
Checkthatyourcomputerhastheminimumrequiredmemorytoruntheapplication.Refertothemanuals
suppliedwiththeapplication.
Checkthefollowing:
Theapplicationisdesignedtooperatewithyouroperatingsystem.
Otherapplicationsruncorrectlyonyourcomputer.
Thenecessarydevicedriversareinstalled.
Theapplicationworkswhenitisrunonsomeothercomputer.
Ifanerrormessageisdisplayedwhileyouareusingtheapplication,refertothemanualssuppliedwiththe
application.
Iftheapplicationstilldoesnotruncorrectly,contactyourplaceofpurchaseoraservicerepresentative
forhelp.

Problem:AdeviceconnectedtotheUSBconnectordoesnotwork.
Solution:OpentheDeviceManagerwindow.MakesurethattheUSBdevicesetupiscorrect,andthatthe
assignmentofcomputerresourceandtheinstallationofthedevicedriverarecorrect.ToopentheDevice
Managerwindow,gotoControlPanelandclickHardwareandSoundDeviceManager.Ifyouare
promptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethepasswordorprovideconfirmation.
