Usinganexternaldisplay
Youcanuseanexternaldisplaysuchasaprojectororamonitortogivepresentationsortoexpandyour
workspace.Thistopicintroduceshowtoconnectanexternaldisplay,choosedisplaymodes,andchange
displaysettings.
Formoreinformationabouttheexternaldisplay,refertothemanualsprovidedwithit.
Connectinganexternaldisplay
Youcanconnectanexternaldisplaytothecomputerbydoingthefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternaldisplaytoanappropriatevideoconnectoronyourcomputer,forexample,the
HDMIconnector.
2.Connecttheexternaldisplaytoanelectricaloutlet.
3.Turnontheexternaldisplay.
Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternaldisplay,right-clickonthedesktop,thenclickScreenresolution
➙Detect.
Choosingadisplaymode
Youcandisplayyourdesktopandappsonthecomputerdisplay,theexternaldisplay,orboth.Tochoose
howtodisplaythevideooutput,pressthedisplay-modeswitchingkeyandthenselectadisplay
modeyouprefer.
Therearefourdisplaymodes:
•Disconnect:Displaysthevideooutputonlyonyourcomputerscreen.
Note:Dependingonthesituation,youmightseeDisconnect,PCscreenonly,Computeronly,or
Disconnectprojector.
•Duplicate:Displaysthesamevideooutputonbothyourcomputerscreenandanexternaldisplay.
•Extend:Extendsthevideooutputfromyourcomputerdisplaytoanexternaldisplay.Youcandragand
moveitemsbetweenthetwodisplays.
•Projectoronly:Showsthevideooutputonlyonanexternaldisplay.

Changingdisplaysettings
Youcanchangethesettingsforboththecomputerdisplayandtheexternaldisplay.Forexample,you
candefinewhichoneisthemaindisplayandwhichoneisthesecondarydisplay.Youalsocanchange
theresolutionandorientation.
