Solution:Changetheresolutionandthecolordepthtolowersettingsfortheprimarydisplay.

•Problem:Displayswitchingdoesnotwork.

Solution:IfyouusetheExtenddesktopfunction,disableit,andchangethedisplayoutputlocation.If

aDVDmovieoravideoclipisplaying,stoptheplayback,closetheprogram,andthenchangethe

displayoutputlocation.

•Problem:Thescreenpositionontheexternaldisplayisincorrectwhenthatdisplayissetforahigh

resolution.

Solution:Sometimes,whenyouuseahighresolution,theimageisshiftedtoleftorrightonthescreen.

Tocorrectthis,ﬁrstmakesurethatyourexternaldisplaysupportsthedisplaymode(theresolutionand

therefreshrate)thatyouhaveset.Ifitdoesnot,setadisplaymodethatthedisplaysupports.Ifitdoes

supportthedisplaymodeyouhaveset,gotothesetupmenuforthedisplayitselfandadjustthesettings

there.Usuallytheexternaldisplayhasbuttonsforaccesstothesetupmenu.Formoreinformation,see

thedocumentationthatcomeswiththedisplay.

Audioproblems

•Problem:WaveorMIDIsounddoesnotplaycorrectly.

Solution:Makesurethatthebuilt-inaudiodeviceisconﬁguredcorrectly.

1.OpenControlPanel.

2.ClickHardwareandSound.

3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconﬁrmation,typethe

passwordorprovideconﬁrmation.

4.Double-clickSound,videoandgamecontrollers.

5.MakesurethattheRealtekHDAudiodriverisenabledandconﬁguredcorrectly:

•Problem:Sounddoesnotcomefromaheadphoneoraspeaker,oryourcomputercannotrecordsounds.

Solution:Toswitchfromonedevicetoanother(forexample,fromaspeakertoaheadphone,orfrom

anexternalmicrophonetoabuilt-inmicrophone),dothefollowing:

1.OpenControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound.

2.ClicktheRealtekHDManagericon.

3.MakesurethatyouareinMULTI-STREAMmodeintheDeviceadvancedsettingswindow.

4.IntheVolumeMixerwindow,selectthedeviceyouwant-forexample,speakers.

5.Playanysoundviaamusicprogram(forexample,WindowsMediaPlayer).Makesurethatsound

comesfromspeakersnow.

6.Then,ifyouwouldliketoswitchtoaheadphone,closethemusicprogram.

7.GototheVolumeMixerwindow.Thenselectanotherdevice,whichisnowtheheadphone.

8.Playanysoundviathemusicprogram.Makesurethatsoundcomesfromaheadphoneattached

directlytothesystem.

Note:IntheVolumeMixerwindowofRealtekHDManager,acheckmarkbytheentryforadevice,

suchasspeakersforaplaybackdevice,orabuilt-inmicrophoneforarecordingdevice,showsthat

thedevicehasbeenselected.

•Problem:Recordingsmadeusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.

Solution:MakesurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:

1.OpenControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound.

2.ClickSound.

3.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.
