Ifanacoutletisconvenient,plugtheacpoweradapterintotheoutlet,andthenplugitintoacpower
connectorofthecomputer.Thebatterywillbefullychargedinaboutthreetosixhours.Thechargingtimeis
affectedbythebatterysizeandthephysicalenvironment.Youcancheckthebatterychargingstatusatany
timethroughthebattery-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationarea.
Note:Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,thecomputerdoesnotstartrechargingthebatteryiftheremaining
powerisgreaterthan95%.
Maximizingthebatterylife
Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,dothefollowing:
•Usethebatteryuntilthechargeiscompletelydepleted.
•Rechargethebatterycompletelybeforeusingit.Youcanseewhetherthebatteryisfullychargedfromthe
battery-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationarea.
•Alwaysusepower-savingmodes,suchassleepmode,andhibernationmode.
Managingthebatterypower
Toachievethebestbalancebetweenperformanceandpowersaving,adjustyourpowerplansettings.
Toaccesspowerplansettings,dothefollowing:
•ForWindows8.1:Gotothedesktopscreen,right-clickthebattery-statusiconintheWindowsnotification
area,andthenclickPowerOptions.ThenclickChangeplansettingsthatisnexttoyourpowerplan.
•ForWindows7:StartthePowerManagerprogramandthenclickthePowerPlantab.Forinstructionson
howtostartthePowerManagerprogram,see“AccessingLenovoprogramsontheWindows7operating
system”onpage15.

Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanuseatanytimetoconservepower.Thissectionintroduceseach
modeandgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofbatterypower.
•Screenblankmode(forWindows7only)
Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toturnoffthepowertothedisplayandmake
thecomputerenterscreenblankmode,right-clickthebatterygaugeiconintheWindowsnotificationarea
andselectPoweroffdisplay.
•Sleepmode
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthesolid-statedriveandthecomputerdisplayare
turnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.
Dependingonthemodel,yourcomputermightsupportthe30DayStandbyfunction.Whenthisfunction
isenabled,thecomputerconsumesevenlesspowerinsleepmodeandtakesonlysecondstoresume
normaloperationwhenyoupressthepowerbutton.Formoreinformationaboutthe30DayStandby
