Attention:
•Whiletransferringdatatoorfromamediacard,orasmartcard,donotputyourcomputerintosleepor
hibernationmodebeforethedatatransferiscompleted;otherwise,yourdatacouldbecomedamaged.
•Dependingonthemodel,thecomputermightalsohaveanintegratedsmart-cardreader.Ensurethat
youinsertacorrecttypeofsmartcard(asshowninfigureA)intothesmart-cardreader.Donotinsert
anon-supportcardoracardwithslits(asshowninfigureBandfigureC)intothesmart-cardreader.
Otherwise,thesmartcardreadermightgetdamaged.
Installingamediacardorasmartcard
Toinstallacard,dothefollowing:
Attention:Beforeyoustartinstallingacard,touchametaltableoragroundedmetalobject.Thisaction
reducesanystaticelectricityfromyourbody.Thestaticelectricitycoulddamagethecard.
1.Locatetheappropriatetypeofslotforyourcard.See“Locatingcomputercontrols,connectors,and
indicators”onpage1.
2.Makesurethatthecardiscorrectlyoriented:
•Formediacard:Themetalcontactsarefacingdownandpointingtowardthecardslot.
•Forsmartcard:Themetalcontactsarefacingupwardandpointingtowardthecardslot.
3.Pressthecardfirmlyintothecardslot.
Iftheplug-and-playfeatureisnotenabledfortheinstalledmediacardorsmartcard,dothefollowing
toenablethefeature:
1.GotoControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
4.FromtheActionmenu,selectAddlegacyhardware.TheAddHardwareWizardstarts.
5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Removingamediacardorasmartcard
Attention:
•Beforeremovingacard,stopthecardfirst.Otherwise,dataonthecardmightbecorruptedorlost.
•Donotremoveacardwhilethecomputerisinsleepmodeorhibernationmode.Otherwise,thesystem
mightnotrespondwhenyoutrytoresumeoperation.
Toremoveacard,dothefollowing:
1.ClickthetriangulariconintheWindowsnotificationareatoshowhiddenicons.Then,right-clickthe
SafelyRemoveHardwareandEjectMediaicon.
2.Selecttheitemyouwanttoremovetostopthecard.
