Thischapterprovidesinformationtohelpyoufurtherconfigurethecomputer:
InstallingtheWindows10operatingsystem
Insomesituations,youmightneedtoinstallanewoperatingsystem.Thistopicprovidesinstructions
onhowtoinstallaWindows10operatingsystem.
Beforeyoustart,printtheseinstructions.
Attention:Theprocessofinstallinganewoperatingsystemdeletesallthedataonyourinternalstorage
drive,includingthedatathatwerestoredinahiddenfolder.
ToinstalltheWindows10operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.EnsurethatyousetthesecuritychiptoTPM2.0.Formoreinformation,see“Settingthesecurity
chip”onpage43.
2.Connectthedrivethatcontainstheoperatingsysteminstallationprogramtothecomputer.
3.StarttheThinkPadSetupprogram.See“UsingtheThinkPadSetupprogram”onpage49.
4.SelectStartupBoottodisplaytheBootPriorityOrdersubmenu.
5.Selectthedrivethatcontainstheoperatingsysteminstallationprogram,forexample,USBHDD.
ThenpressEsc.
6.SelectRestartandensurethatOSOptimizedDefaultsisenabled.ThenpressF10tosavethesettings
andexittheThinkPadSetupprogram.
7.Followtheon-screeninstructionstoinstallthedevicedriversandnecessaryprograms.See“Installing
devicedrivers”onpage48.
8.Afterinstallingthedevicedrivers,applyWindowsUpdatetogetthelatestmodules,forexamplethe
securitypatches.
9.Dependingonyourpreference,installLenovoprograms.ForinformationaboutLenovoprograms,
see“Lenovoprograms”onpage11
.
Note:Afterinstallingtheoperatingsystem,donotchangetheinitialUEFI/LegacyBootsettinginthe
ThinkPadSetupprogram.Otherwise,theoperatingsystemwillnotstartcorrectly.
