Problem:Icannotmovethevolumesliderorbalanceslider.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisfixedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioprogramsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundprogramsareused.The
programsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareenabledtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayerprogram.Usuallytheprogramhasslidersavailable
tocontrolthesoundfromwithintheprogram.
Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.
Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.Thisisbecausethebuilt-insynthesizersoftwaredoes
notsupportthecontrol.
Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffevenifIsettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
Solution:YoustillcanhearsomesoundeventhoughyouhavesettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
Toturnoffthesoundcompletely,gototheMastervolumecontrolandselectMutespeakers.
Problem:WhenIconnectheadphonestomycomputerwhileplayingsound,aspeakerdoesnot
producesound.
Solution:Whentheheadphonesareattached,thestreamingisautomaticallyredirectedtoit.Ifyouwant
tolistentosoundfromthespeakersagain,ensurethatyousetthosespeakersasthedefaultdevice.For
moreinformation,seethehelpinformationsystemforRealtekHDAudioManager.
Problem:Sounddoesnotcomefromaheadphoneoraspeaker,orthecomputercannotrecordsounds.
Solution:Toswitchfromonedevicetoanother(forexample,fromaspeakertoaheadphone,orfrom
anexternalmicrophonetoabuilt-inmicrophone),dothefollowing:
1.GotoControlPanel,andensurethatyouviewControlPanelbyCategory.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClicktheSmartAudioicon.
4.EnsurethatthecomputerisinMULTI-STREAMmodeintheDeviceadvancedsettingswindow.
5.IntheVolumeMixerwindow,selectthedeviceyouwant,forexample,speakers.
6.Playanysoundthroughamusicprogram(forexample,WindowsMediaPlayer).Ensurethatsound
comesfromthespeakersnow.
7.Then,ifyouwouldliketoswitchtoaheadphone,closethemusicprogram.
8.GototheVolumeMixerwindow.Thenselectanotherdevice(forexample,theheadphone).
