Solution:Sometimes,whenyouuseahighresolutionsuchas1600x1200pixels,theimageisshiftedto
theleftorrightonthescreen.Tocorrectthis,firstensurethatyourexternalmonitorsupportsthedisplay
mode(theresolutionandtherefreshrate)thatyouhaveset.Ifitdoesnot,setadisplaymodethatthe
monitorsupports.Ifitdoessupportthedisplaymodeyouhaveset,gotothesetupmenuforthemonitor
itselfandadjustthesettingsthere.Usuallytheexternalmonitorhasbuttonsforaccesstothesetupmenu.

Audioproblems
Problem:WaveorMIDIsounddoesnotplayproperly.
Solution:Ensurethatthebuilt-inaudiodeviceisconfiguredcorrectly.
1.GotoControlPanel,andensurethatyouviewControlPanelbyCategory.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
4.Double-clickSound,videoandgamecontrollers.
5.EnsurethatthedevicefollowingSound,videoandgamecontrollersisenabledandconfigured
correctly.
Problem:Recordingsmadebyusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.
Solution:EnsurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:
1.GotoControlPanel,andensurethatyouviewControlPanelbyCategory.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickSound.
4.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.
5.SelectMicrophone,andclickthePropertiesbutton.
6.ClicktheLevelstab,andmovetheMicrophoneBoostsliderupwards.
7.ClickOK.
Note:Formoreinformationaboutcontrollingvolume,seeyourWindowsonlinehelp.
Problem:Icannotmovethevolumesliderorbalanceslider.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisfixedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioprogramsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundprogramsareused.The
programsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareenabledtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayerprogram.Usuallytheprogramhasslidersavailable
tocontrolthesoundfromwithintheprogram.
Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.
Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.Thisisbecausethebuilt-insynthesizersoftwaredoes
notsupportthecontrol.
Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffevenifIsettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
Solution:YoustillcanhearsomesoundeventhoughyouhavesettheMastervolumecontrolatminimum.
