8. Reinstall the base cover assembly.
9. Turn the computer over. Connect the ac power adapter and all disconnected cables to the computer.
Notes: If you install a new hybrid solid-state drive (with Intel Optane memory), enable Intel Optane memory
by doing the following:
1. Restart your computer. When the logo screen is displayed, immediately press F1 to enter the UEFI BIOS
menu.
2. Select Config Storage Controller mode. Ensure that RST mode is selected.
3. Go to
https://support.lenovo.com. Download and install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (iRST)
Console with Device Driver on your computer.
4. Run the iRST Console with Device Driver.
5. Click Intel Optane Memory and then follow the instructions on the screen to enable it.
Replacement procedure for the short M.2 solid-state drive
1. Disable the built-in battery. See “Disable Fast Startup and the built-in battery” on page 49.
2. Turn off the computer and disconnect the computer from ac power and all connected cables.
3. Close the computer display and turn the computer over.
4. Remove the base cover assembly. See “Base cover assembly” on page 50.
5. Remove the screws that secure the M.2 solid-state drive bracket
1 , and remove the bracket 2 . Then,
remove the drive out of the slot
