See “Notice for Safety and Warranty information” on page 28. Batteries DANGER Personal computers manufactured by Lenovo contain a coin cell battery to provide power to the system clock. In addition, many mobile products, such as notebook computers, utilize a rechargeable battery pack to provide system power when in portable mode.
Rechargeable battery notice DANGER Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the battery pack. Attempting to do so can cause an explosion, or liquid leakage from the battery pack. A battery pack other than the one specified by Lenovo, or a disassembled or modified battery pack is not covered by the warranty. If the rechargeable battery pack is incorrectly replaced, there is danger of an explosion. The battery pack contains a small amount of harmful substances.
Lithium coin cell battery notice DANGER Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. When replacing the lithium coin cell battery, use only the same or an equivalent type that is recommended by the manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of. Do not: v Throw or immerse into water v Heat to more than 100°C (212°F) v Repair or disassemble Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
Electrical current safety information DANGER Electric current from power, telephone, and communication cables is hazardous. To avoid a shock hazard: v Do not use your computer during a lightning storm. v Do not connect or disconnect any cables or perform installation, maintenance, or reconfiguration of this product during an electrical storm. v Connect all power cords to a properly wired and grounded electrical outlet. v Connect to properly wired outlets any equipment that will be attached to this product.
Modem safety information DANGER For North America Type: CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire, use only No. 26 AWG or larger (for example, No. 24 AWG) telecommunication line cord listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) or certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
Example of the label These drives are certified in the U.S. to conform to the requirements of the Department of Health and Human Services 21 Code of Federal Regulations (DHHS 21 CFR) Subchapter J for Class 1 laser products. Elsewhere, these drives are certified to conform to the requirements of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60825-1 and CENELEC EN 60825-1 for Class 1 laser products. Class 1 laser products are not considered hazardous.
Some CD and DVD drives contain an embedded Class 3A or Class 3B laser diode. Note the following statement. DANGER Laser radiation when open. Do not stare into the beam, do not view directly with optical instruments, and avoid direct exposure to the beam. Save these instructions.

Chapter 1. Finding information Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (Lenovo System Toolbox) The Lenovo ThinkVantage® Toolbox is a diagnostic program that works through the Windows operating system. It enables you to view symptoms of computer problems and solutions for them, and includes automatic notification when action is required, computing assistance, and advanced diagnostics and diagnostic history.

Diagnosing problems If you experience problems with your computer, use the following procedure as a starting point for solving them. v If you can start up the operating system, see “Diagnosing problems using Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox (Lenovo System Toolbox).
Diagnosing problems using PC-Doctor from the Rescue and Recovery workspace By using PC-Doctor® from the Rescue and Recovery® workspace, you can diagnose your system without starting up the operating system. To run PC-Doctor, do as follows: 1. Turn off the computer, and then turn it on again. 2. When the ThinkPad® logo comes up, immediately press the ThinkVantage button. The Rescue and Recovery workspace opens. 3. Click Launch advanced Rescue and Recovery. 4. Click Diagnose hardware.

Types of warranty service 1. Customer Replaceable Unit (″CRU″) Service Under CRU Service, your Service Provider will ship CRUs to you for installation by you. CRU information and replacement instructions are shipped with your product and are available from Lenovo at any time upon request. CRUs that are easily installed by you are called Self-service CRUs, while Optional-service CRUs may require some technical skill and tools. Installation of Self-service CRUs is your responsibility.

Appendix B. Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs) Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs) are computer parts that the customer can upgrade or replace. There are two types of CRU: self-service and optional-service. Self-service CRUs are easy to install. They may be standalone or latched, or require a screwdriver to remove a maximum of two screws, whereas optional-service CRUs require some technical skill, as well as tools such as a screwdriver.
