5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheupdate.
RecoveringfromaPOST/BIOSupdatefailure
IfthepowertoyourcomputerisinterruptedwhilePOST/BIOSisbeingupdated(ashupdate),yourcomputer
mightnotrestartcorrectly.Ifthishappens,performthefollowingprocedure,whichiscommonlycalled
Boot-blockRecovery.
1.InsertthePOST/BIOSupdate(ashupdate)discintotheopticaldrivewhenthecomputeristurnedon.
2.Turnthecomputeroff.
3.Turnthecomputeronand,immediatelyduringstartup,pressCtrl+Home.
4.ThecomputerwillautomaticallybeginrecoveringthePOST/BIOS,andyouwillseeascreenindicating
thattherecoveryhasstarted.Aftertherecoverysessioncompletes,thecomputerrestartsautomatically.
5.RemovethePOST/BIOSupdate(ashupdate)discfromtheopticaldrive.
Powermanagement
Powermanagementreducesthepowerconsumptionofcertaincomponentsofthecomputersuchasthe
systempowersupply,processor,harddiskdrives,andsomemonitors.
Automaticcongurationandpowerinterface(ACPI)BIOS
BeinganACPIBIOSsystem,theoperatingsystemisallowedtocontrolthepowermanagementfeatures
ofthecomputerandthesettingforAdvancedPowerManagement(APM)BIOSmodeisignored.Not
alloperatingsystemssupportACPIBIOSmode.
AutomaticPower-Onfeatures
TheAutomaticPower-OnfeatureswithinthePowerManagementmenuallowyoutoenableanddisable
featuresthatturnonthecomputerautomatically.
•RTCresume:Youcanspecifyadateandtimeatwhichthecomputerwillbeturnedonautomatically.
Thiscanbeeitherasingleeventoradailyevent.
•WakeonLAN:Ifthecomputerhasaproperlyconguredtoken-ringorEthernetLANadaptercardthatis
WakeonLAN-enabledandthereisremotenetworkmanagementsoftware,youcanusetheWakeonLAN
feature.WhenyousetWakeonLANtoEnabled,thecomputerwillturnonwhenitreceivesaspecic
signalfromanothercomputeronthelocalareanetwork(LAN).
