Selectingastartupdevice
Ifyourcomputerdoesnotstartupfromadevicesuchastheharddiskdriveorthediscintheopticaldriveas
expected,dooneofthefollowingtoselectthestartupdeviceyouwant.
Selectingatemporarystartupdevice
Usethisproceduretostartupfromanystartupdevice.
Note:Notalldiscs,harddiskdrives,anddiskettesarebootable.
Toselectatemporarystartupdevice,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffyourcomputer.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF12keywhenturningonthecomputer.WhentheStartupDevice
Menuopens,releasetheF12key.
3.SelectthedesiredstartupdevicefromtheStartupDeviceMenuandpressEntertobegin.
Note:SelectingastartupdevicefromtheStartupDeviceMenudoesnotpermanentlychangethestartup
sequence.
Selectingorchangingthestartupdevicesequence
Tovieworpermanentlychangetheconguredstartupdevicesequence,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage41.
2.SelectStartup®PrimaryBootSequence.Readtheinformationdisplayedontherightsideofthe
screen.
3.Selecttherstbootdevice,secondbootdevice,andsoon.
4.PressEsctoreturntotheStartupmenu.Then,selectthedevicesfortheAutomaticBootSequence
andErrorBootSequence.
5.PressEsctoreturntotheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu.YoumighthavetopressEscseveraltimes.
6.PressF10tosaveandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.
Notes:
a.Ifyoudonotwanttosavethesettings,selectExit®DiscardChangesandExit.
b.Ifyouhavechangedthesettingsandwanttoreturntothedefaultsettings,selectExit®Load
OptimalDefaultsorpressF9.
ExitingfromtheSetupUtilityprogram
Afteryounishviewingorchangingthesettings,pressEsctoreturntotheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu.
YoumighthavetopressEscseveraltimes.Then,dooneofthefollowing:
•Ifyouwanttosavethenewsettings,pressF10tosaveandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.Otherwise,
yourchangeswillnotbesaved.
•Ifyoudonotwanttosavethesettings,selectExit®DiscardChangesandExit.
•Ifyouhavechangedthesettingsandwanttoreturntothedefaultsettings,selectExit®LoadOptimal
DefaultsorpressF9.
