Yourcomputerhasaspecialtypeofmemorythatmaintainsthedate,time,andcongurationinformationfor
built-infeatures.Thebatterykeepstheseinformationactivewhenyouturnoffthecomputer.
Thebatterynormallyrequiresnochargingormaintenancethroughoutitslife,however,nobatterylasts
forever.Ifthebatteryfails,thedate,time,andcongurationinformation(includingpasswords)arelost.An
errormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnonthecomputer.
Beforeperformingthefollowingprocedure,besuretoreadandunderstandtheinformationaboutreplacing
anddisposingofthebatteryinthe“Lithiumbatterynotice”sectionoftheThinkCentreSafetyandWarranty
Guide.
Toreplacethebattery,dothefollowing:
1.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecomputercover”onpage68.
2.Locatethebatteryonthesystemboard.See“Locatingcomponents”onpage66.
3.Removetheoldbattery.
