•Yourcomputermodemmayuseonlyananalogtelephonenetwork,orpublic-switchedtelephonenetwork
(PSTN).DonotconnectthemodemtoaPBX(privatebranchexchange)oranyotherdigitaltelephone
extensionlinebecausethiscoulddamageyourmodem.Analogphonelinesareoftenusedinhomes,
whiledigitalphonelinesareoftenusedinhotelsorofcebuildings.Ifyouarenotsurewhichkindof
phonelineyouareusing,contactyourtelephonecompany.
•YourcomputermighthavebothanEthernetconnectorandamodemconnector.Ifso,besuretoconnect
yourcommunicationcabletothecorrectone.
DANGER
Toavoidtheriskofelectricalshock,donotconnectthetelephonecabletotheEthernet
connector.
Cleaningthecoverofyourcomputer
Occasionallycleanyourcomputerasfollows:
1.Prepareamixtureofagentlekitchen-usedetergent(onethatdoesnotcontainabrasivepowderor
strongchemicalssuchasacidoralkaline).Use5partswaterto1partdetergent.
2.Absorbthediluteddetergentintoasponge.
3.Squeezeexcessliquidfromthesponge.
4.Wipethecoverwiththesponge,usingacircularmotionandtakingcarenottoletanyexcessliquiddrip.
5.Wipethesurfacetoremovethedetergent.
6.Rinsethespongewithcleanrunningwater.
7.Wipethecoverwiththecleansponge.
8.Wipethesurfaceagainwithadry,softlint-freecloth.
9.Waitforthesurfacetodrycompletelyandremoveanybersfromthecloth.
Cleaningyourcomputerkeyboard
1.Applysomeisopropylrubbingalcoholtoasoft,dust-freecloth.
2.Wipeeachkeytopsurfacewiththecloth.Wipethekeysonebyone;ifyouwipeseveralkeysatatime,
theclothmayhookontoanadjacentkeyandpossiblydamageit.Makesurethatnoliquiddripsonto
orbetweenthekeys.
3.Allowtodry.
4.Toremoveanycrumbsordustfrombeneaththekeys,youcanuseacamerablowerwithabrush
orcoolairfromahairdryer.
Note:Avoidsprayingcleanerdirectlyontothedisplayorthekeyboard.
Cleaningyourcomputerdisplay
1.Gentlywipethedisplaywithadry,softlint-freecloth.Ifyouseeascratchlikemarkonyourdisplay,
itmightbeastaintransferredfromthekeyboardortheTrackPointpointingstickwhenthecoverwas
pressedfromtheoutside.
2.Wipeordustthestaingentlywithasoft,drycloth.
3.Ifthestainremains,moistenasoft,lint-freeclothwithwaterora50-50mixtureofisopropylalcoholand
waterthatdoesnotcontainimpurities.
4.Wringoutasmuchoftheliquidasyoucan.
