Ifthewords“BluetoothRadio”appearinthedevicelisting,theMicrosoftBluetoothsoftwareisinstalled
onyourcomputer.IfyouwanttouseThinkPadBluetoothwithEnhancedDataRateSoftware,youhaveto
installitandthenreplacetheBluetoothdriver.Formoreinformation,see“UsingBluetooth”onpage64.
•Problem:WhilelookingattheClassicViewoftheControlPanel,youseetwoBluetoothiconsinthe
ControlPanel.
Solution:IfyouhaveinstalledtheMicrosoftBluetoothsoftwarebefore,andyouareusingThinkPad
BluetoothwithEnhancedDataRateSoftware,youmayndtwoBluetoothiconsintheControlPanel.One
istheBluetoothCongurationiconforThinkPadBluetoothwithEnhancedDataRateSoftware,andthe
otheristheBluetoothDevicesiconfortheMicrosoftBluetoothsoftware.
•Problem:SounddoesnotcomefromtheBluetoothheadset/headphonebutcomesfromthelocal
speakereventhoughtheheadset/headphoneisconnectedusingHeadsetproleorAVprole.
Solution:Dothefollowing:
1.Exittheapplicationthatusesthesounddevice(forexample,WindowsMediaPlayer).
2.OpentheControlPanelbyclickingStart➙ControlPanel.
3.Double-clickSoundsandAudioDevicestoopentheSoundsandAudioDevicesPropertieswindow.
4.SelecttheAudiotab.
5.IfyouareusingHeadsetprole,selectBluetoothAudioforbothSoundplaybackandSound
recording.IfyouareusingAVprole,selectBluetoothHighQualityAudioforbothSoundplayback
andSoundrecording.
6.ClickOKtoclosetheSoundsandAudioDevicesPropertieswindow.
Keyboardandotherpointingdevices
Thefollowingarethemostcommonkeyboardandotherpointingdevicesproblems:
UltraNavproblems
•Problem:Thepointerdriftswhenthecomputeristurnedonorafteritresumesnormaloperation.
Solution:ThepointermightdriftwhenyouarenotusingtheTrackPointduringnormaloperation.This
isanormalcharacteristicoftheTrackPointandisnotadefect.Pointerdriftingmightoccurforseveral
secondsunderthefollowingconditions:
–Whenthecomputeristurnedon.
–Whenthecomputerresumesnormaloperation.
–WhentheTrackPointispressedforalongtime.
–Whenthetemperaturechanges
•Problem:TheTrackPointortouchpaddoesnotwork.
Solution:MakesurethattheTrackPointortouchpadissettoEnabledintheUltraNavDeviceSetting.
Note:ToopentheUltraNavDeviceSetting,pressFn+F8.
Keyboardproblems
•Problem:Allorsomekeysonthekeyboarddonotwork.
Solution:Ifanexternalnumerickeypadisconnected:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Removetheexternalnumerickeypad.
3.Turnonthecomputerandtryusingthekeyboardagain.
