Youdonothavetosetanypasswordstouseyourcomputer.However,usingpasswordsimproves
computingsecurity.
Windowspasswords
DependingonyourversionoftheWindowsoperatingsystem,youcanusepasswordsforavarietyof
features,includingcontrollingloginaccess,accesstosharedresources,networkaccess,andindividualuser

SettinguptheintegratedSecurityChip
Dependingonthemodelofyourcomputer,thekeyboardmighthaveanembeddedSecurityChip,a
cryptographicmicroprocessor.WiththeSecurityChipandtheClientSecuritySolutionprogram,your
computerwillhaveahigherlevelofsecurityacrossthelocalnetwork,theenterprise,ortheInternet.orthe
Internet.ThefollowingarethekeyfeaturesoftheClientSecuritySolutionprogram:
•SecuredataencryptiontoprotectagainstunauthorizedaccesstocondentialmateriallocatedonyourPC.
•Keyencryptiontohelpensureprivacy.
Note:Keyencryptionusesapairofencryptionkeys:apublickeyandaprivatekey.Thepublickeyand
privatekeyworktogethertoencryptanddecryptinformation.Thetwokeysarealsousedtoidentify
andauthenticateusers.
•Akeyarchiveandrecoverytooltoprotectagainstaharddiskdrivefailureorsystemboardfailure.
•Convenient,securestorageofWebsiteandapplicationlogininformationusingPasswordManager.
•Supportforadditionalsecuritydevices,suchasangerprintreader.
•AmeanstorecoveraforgottenWindowsorharddiskpassword.
•Anencryptedvirtualdiskdrive,whichautomaticallyencryptsanydatathatisstoredwithinthesecure

SettingtheSecurityChip
TheSecurityChipsubmenuundertheSecuritymenuoftheSetupUtilityprogramprovidesthefollowing
options:
•SecurityChip:activates,inactivates,ordisablestheSecurityChip.
•SecurityReportingOptions:enablesordisableseachSecurityReportingoption.
•ClearSecurityChip:clearstheencryptionkey.
Notes:
•MakesurethattheAdministratorPasswordhasbeensetintheSetupUtilityprogram.Otherwiseanyone
canchangethesettingsfortheSecurityChip.
•IfyouareusingtheClientSecuritySolutionprogram,handletheSecurityChipasfollows:
–DonotcleartheSecurityChip.Otherwise,thefunctionsassignedtothekeyswillbeerased.
–DonotdisabletheSecurityChip.Otherwise,theClientSecuritySolutionprogramwillnotwork.
•IftheSecurityChipisdisabled,ClearSecurityChipandSecurityReportingOptionswillnotbe
displayed.
