mighthookontoanadjacentkeyandpossiblydamageit.Ensurethatnoliquiddripsontoorbetween
thekeys.

orcoolairfromahairdryer.
Note:Avoidsprayingcleanerdirectlyontothedisplayorthekeyboard.
Cleaningyourcomputerdisplay
Tocleanthecomputerdisplay,dothefollowing:
1.Gentlywipethedisplaywithadry,softlint-freecloth.Ifyouseeascratchedmarkonyourdisplay,it
mightbeastaintransferredfromthekeyboardortheTrackPointpointingstickwhenthecoverwas
pressedfromtheoutside.
2.Wipeordustthestaingentlywithasoft,drycloth.
3.Ifthestainremains,moistenasoft,lint-freeclothwithwaterora50-50mixtureofisopropylalcoholand
waterthatdoesnotcontainimpurities.
4.Wringoutasmuchoftheliquidasyoucan.
5.Wipethedisplayagain;donotletanyliquiddripintothecomputer.
6.Besuretodrythedisplaybeforeclosingit.
Computerstopsresponding
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourcomputeriscompletelyunresponsive(youcannotusetheUltraNavpointingdeviceorthekeyboard),
dothefollowing:
1.Pressandholdthepowerbuttonuntilthecomputerturnsoff.Turnonthecomputeragainbypressing
thepowerbutton.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnon,continuewithstep2.
Note:Donotremovethebatteryandtheacpoweradaptertoresetthecomputer.
2.Whilethecomputeristurnedoff,removeallpowersourcesfromthecomputer(batteryandtheacpower
adapter).Holddownthepowerbuttonfor10seconds.Plugintheacpoweradapterwhilekeepingthe
batteryoutofthecomputer.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnbackon,continuewithstep3.
Note:Oncethecomputerstartsupandenterstheoperatingsystem,usethepropershutdown
proceduretoturnthecomputeroff.Oncethecomputerisoff,reattachthebatteryandturnonthe
computeragain.Ifthecomputerdoesnotstartwiththebatteryreattached,removethebatteryand
againstartwithstep2.Ifthecomputerstartswithacpowerbutdoesnotstartwhenthebatteryis
attached,calltheCustomerSupportCenterforsupport.
3.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpower(batteryandtheacpoweradapter).Removeall
externaldevicesthatareattachedtoyourcomputer(keyboard,mouse,printer,scanner,andsoon).
Repeatstep2.Ifstep2isunsuccessful,continuewithstep4.
Note:Thefollowingstepsinvolveremovingstaticsensitivecomponentsfromyourcomputer.Ensure
thatyouareproperlygroundedandremoveallsourcesofpowerattachedtothecomputer.Ifyouare
uncomfortableorunsureaboutremovingcomponents,calltheCustomerSupportCenterforassistance.
4.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerandexternalhardware.Removeanynon-original
memorymoduleaddedtoyourcomputer.Afterremovingtheextramemorymoduleandreseatingthe
originalmemorymodule,repeatstep2.Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotturnon,consulttheusermanual
forothercustomer-replaceablecomponentsthatareattachedtoyourcomputer.
