Chapter 1. Getting started This User’s Guide contains detailed information on the ThinkVision® P27u-20 Curved Panel Monitor. For a quick overview, please see the Setup Poster that was shipped with your monitor. ThinkVision P27u-20 supports Lenovo Display Control Center - ThinkColour. In the box The product package should include the following items: Information Flyer Flat Panel Monitor Monitor Stand Monitor Base Power Cord USB B-A Cable (optional) Thunderbolt™ 4 Cable DP 1.
Notice for use To setup your monitor, please see the illustrations below. Note: Do not touch the monitor within the screen area. The screen area is glass and can be damaged by rough handling or excessive pressure. 1. Place your monitor with the screen face down on a soft flat surface. 2. Align the stand assembly bracket to the monitor. 3. Insert the base towards the stand and tighten the thumbscrew. Note: To attach a VESA mount, please see “Detaching the monitor stand” on page 2-10.
Setting up your monitor This section provides information to help you set up your monitor. Connecting and turning on your monitor Note: Be sure to read the Safety Information located in the Flyer before carrying out this procedure. 1. Power off your computer and all attached devices, and unplug the computer power cord. 2. Connect the cables according to below icon indication. Input Connectors (Rear view): 1 x DisplayPort 1.2 (HDCP 2.2) 2 x HDMI 2.0 (HDCP 2.2) 1 x USB 3.
3. Connect one end of the DisplayPort 1.2 cable to the DisplayPort connector on the back of the computer, and the other end to the DisplayPort connector on the monitor. Lenovo recommends that customers who require using the DisplayPort input on their monitor purchase the "Lenovo DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable 0A36537". 5. Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB upstream terminal of the monitor, and connect the other end of the USB cable to an appropriate USB port on your device. Note: 1. The USB upstream port does not provide power while the monitor is switched off. 2. Power output for USB-A: 5V/0.9A. 3. If there are any * tag, you can consult the comments on page 1-1. 6. Connect the speaker’s audio cable and audio jack of monitor to transfer audio source from DP, Thunderbolt™ or HDMI. Note 1: The audio output in DP, Thunderbolt™ and HDMI modes. Note 2: Excessive sound pressure from ear-/headphones can cause hearing damage/hearing loss. 7. Plug the monitor power cord and the computer cord into grounded electrical outlets. Note: A certified power supply cord has to be used with this equipment.
8. Connect one end of the Thunderbolt™ 4 cable to the Thunderbolt™ connector of the computer, and the other end to the Thunderbolt™ connector on the monitor. Lenovo recommends that customers who require using the Thunderbolt™ input on their monitor purchase the "Lenovo Thunderbolt™ 4 cable TBD". Note 2: is Thunderbolt™ 4 upstream port, is Thunderbolt™ 4 downstream port.
9. Connect one end of the network cable to the Ethernet interface of the monitor and the other end to the router. 10. Connect the Notebook Thunderbolt™ port to 1st P27u-20 Thunderbolt™ upstream port, and connect the 1st P27u-20 Thunderbolt™ downstream to 2nd P27u-20 Thunderbolt™ upstream port for display Daisy chain function. Note: To achieve 4K 60Hz x 2 display Daisy chain on P27u-20, certificated Thunderbolt™ 4 Notebook and Thunderbolt 4™ cable that support transmission speed up to 40 Gbps are required.

Connect Intel vPro® supported Notebook through P27u-20 Thunderbolt™ 4 interface can let you remotely access/control computer via Intel Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) when the operating system is not available or even the computer is turned off. Note 1: To active vPro® function of P27u-20, please see "OSD functions" on page 2-3. Note 2: For more detail Intel vPro® settings, you can consult local IT for further information. 12.
After operating, the OSD pops up. The USB devices and signal will be switched to another upstream port after OSD disappears. You can bind USB-B and USB-C signals in the KVM option in the OSD menu. While operating, and if the USB device is working on data transferring, the port icon will be red, not blue. There will be a pop-up message for the risk alert of data losing possibility.
13. Recommended Ethernet setup: 1) Connect Desktop with HDMI/DisplayPort and USB type B for USB Ethernet. 2) Connect single Thunderbolt™ 4 cable to Notebook for Display/Thunderbolt™/PCIe Ethernet. 3) Connect RJ45 cable (cat 5e above) to router. Note 1: To enable Ethernet function of P27u-20, please see "OSD functions" on page 2-3. Note 2: Both Thunderbolt™/USB-B Ethernet transmission through same LAN cable to router. Note 3: RJ45 link rate LED indicator: Orange for 1G, Green for 100M, no light for 10M.

Product overview This section will provide information on adjusting monitor positions, setting user controls, and using the cable lock slot. Types of adjustments Tilt Please see the illustration below for an example of the tilt range. Swivel With the built-in pedestal, you can tilt and swivel the monitor for the most comfortable viewing angle. Height Adjustment After pressing the top of the monitor, you can adjust the height of the monitor.
User controls Your monitor has controls at the right side which are used to adjust the display. For information on how to use these controls, please see “Explore your monitor” on page 2-1. Cable lock slot Your monitor is equipped with a cable lock slot located on the rear of your monitor. Please follow the instructions that came with the cable lock to attach it.

Chapter 2. Explore your monitor This section describes the user control features used to adjust your monitor image. Quick access controls The direct access controls can be used when the On Screen Display (OSD) is not displayed. OSD controls The settings adjustable with the user controls are viewed through the On-Screen Display (OSD), as shown below. To use the controls: 1. Press to open the main OSD menu. 2. Use or to move among the icons. Select an icon and press If there is a sub-menu, you can move between options using or to access that function. , then press to select that function. Use or to make adjustments. Press to save. Press to move backwards through the sub-menus and exit from the OSD.

OSD Icon on Main Menu Submenu Controls and Adjustments Description Select OSD Language. Language Menu Setting Note: The language chosen only affects the language of the OSD. It has no effect on any software running on the computer. Menu Time Out Sets the length of time the OSD will remain active after the last time a button is pressed. Menu Horizontal Changes the horizontal position of the OSD. Menu Vertical Changes the vertical position of the OSD. Transparency Choose the transparency of OSD.
Maximum resolutions The display mode the monitor uses is controlled by the computer. Therefore, refer to your computer documentation for details on how to change display modes. The image size, position and shape might change when the display mode changes. This is normal and the image can be readjusted using automatic image setup and the image controls. Unlike CRT monitors, which require a high refresh rate to minimize flicker, LCD or Flat Panel technology is inherently flicker-free.
Driver (optional) Below are steps for manually installing the monitor driver in Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows 10. Installing the monitor driver in Windows 7 To install the device driver in Microsoft® Windows 7, do the following: 1. Turn off the computer and all attached devices. 2. Ensure that the monitor is connected correctly. 3. Turn on the monitor and then turn on the computer. Allow your computer to boot into Windows 7 operating system. 4. Installing the monitor driver in Windows 10 To use the Plug and Play feature in Microsoft Windows 10, do the following: 1. Turn off the computer and all attached devices. 2. Ensure that the monitor is connected correctly. 3. Turn on the monitor and then turn on the computer. Allow your computer to boot into Windows 10 operating system. 4. Understanding power management Power management is invoked when the computer recognizes that you have not using your mouse or keyboard for a user-definable period. There are several states as described in the table below. For optimal performance, switch off your monitor at the end of each working day, or whenever you expect to leave it unused for long periods during the day. Table 2-4.
Detaching the monitor stand After placing the monitor face down on a clean and soft surface, push the hook of the stand and lift the stand up to remove it from the monitor. Wall Mounting (Optional) Refer to the instructions that come with the VESA compatible base mounting kit. 1. 2. 3. 4. Place the monitor face down on a non-abrasive surface on stable flat table. Remove the stand. Attach the mounting bracket from the wall mounting kit to the monitor.
Chapter 3. Troubleshooting If you have a problem setting up or using your monitor, you might be able to solve it yourself. Before calling your dealer or Lenovo, try the suggested actions that are appropriate to your problem. Table 3-1. Troubleshooting Problem Possible cause The words” Out of Range” are shown on the screen, and the power indicator is flashing white. The system is set to a display mode which is not supported by the monitor.

Appendix A. Important safety information Safety information General Safety guidelines For tips to help you use your computer safety, go to: http://www.lenovo.com/safety Before installing this product, read the Safety Information. This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children are likely to be present, avoid hurting your child when machine falling down.
Maintenance Important Safety Information The power cord is designed for use with your monitor. To use a different cord, use only a power source and connection compatible with this monitor. WARNING: Always connect your monitor, the computer, and other equipment to a grounded (earthed) power outlet. To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment, do not disable the power cord grounding feature. The grounding plug is an important safety feature.
Appendix B. Comfort and accessibility This section will give you information on adjusting and using your monitor. Good ergonomic practice is important to get the most from your personal computer and to avoid discomfort. Arrange your workplace and the equipment you use to suit your individual needs and the kind of work that you perform. In addition, use healthy work habits to maximize your performance and comfort while using your computer.
Positioning your monitor Prolong exposure to computer screens may cause temporary visual fatigue. Factors including working environment, working habit and posture, screen flicker and blue light contribute to this condition. To minimize visual fatigue certain adjustments can be made on the work stations or using suitable computer screens with features that alleviate eye strain. Environment Visual fatigue is affected by the working environment.
Tips for healthy work habits Long exposures to computer screens may cause eye strain. Symptoms include headache, burning eyes, blurred vision and discomfort. To minimize eye strain, computer users can adjust working habits to let their eyes relax and recover. Break Times Computer users should take some time away from the screen especially if working for prolong hours. Generally, it is recommended to take short breaks (5 – 15 mins) after 1 –2 hours of continuous computer works.
ThinkVision monitors are design to maximize work space (e.g. having thin profiles, compatible for ThinkCentre Tiny back mount, practical cable management, etc). Viewing Angle Neck fatigue and pain may result from prolong turning of the head to see objects on the monitor screen. To minimize this, position the monitor directly in front so the head, neck and torso face forward to the screen. It is recommended that monitor should not be more than 35 degrees to the right or left of the head.
Low Blue Light Concerns on blue light affecting eye health have risen over the years. Blue light have wavelength between 300 nm to 500 nm. The monitors have a factory setting that reduces blue light emissions. Users can enable low blue light mode on these monitors from the OSD settings. 1. Press to open the main OSD menu. 2.
