Attention: • Do not open the display panel beyond 180 degrees. When closing the display panel, be careful not to leave pens or any other objects in between the display panel and the keyboard. Otherwise, the display panel may be damaged.

Built-in microphone Captures sound which can be used for video conferencing, voice narration, or audio recording. Computer display Provides brilliant visual output. Note: Select models may have a multi‐touch screen. Please refer to the actual product. Wireless LAN antennas Connect to a wireless LAN adapter to send and receive wireless radio signals.

To use this function, press and hold Fn ; then press one of the function keys . The following describes the features of each function key. Fn + B: Activates the break function. Fn + P: Activates the pause function. Fn + C: Enables/disables the scroll lock. Fn + S: Activates the system request.

Getting to know your computer Hotkeys You can access certain system settings quickly by pressing the appropriate hotkeys. : Mutes/unmutes the sound. : Enables/disables Airplane mode. : Decreases the volume level. : Enables/disables the integrated camera. : Increases the volume level. : Locks the screen. : Enables/disables the microphone. : Toggles the display between the computer and an external display device. : Refreshes the desktop or the currently active window.

Battery status indicator AC power adapter status Disconnected Connected Indicator status Meaning Off The computer is in sleep mode or turned off; The battery has more than 20% charge. Solid amber The battery has between 5% and 20% charge. Fast blinking amber The battery has between 1% and 5% charge.

Off The computer is powered off. Combo audio jack Connects to headsets. Notes: • The combo audio jack does not support conventional microphones. • The recording function might not be supported if third‐party headphones or headsets are connected, due to different industry standards.

Notes: • When the computer is on, the USB port supports charging function.

Getting to know your computer Using memory cards (not supplied) Your computer supports the following types of memory cards: • Micro Secure Digital (SD) card • Micro Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) card • Micro Secure Digital eXtended Capacity (SDXC) card Notes: • Insert only one card into the slot at a time. • This card reader does not support SDIO devices (e.g., SDIO Bluetooth, etc.). Inserting a memory card Slide the card in until it clicks into place.
Chapter 1. Getting to know your computer Connecting USB device You can connect a USB device to your computer by inserting its USB plug (Type A) into the USB port on your computer. The first time you plug a USB device into a particular USB port on your computer, Windows automatically installs a driver for that device. After the driver has been installed, you can disconnect and reconnect the device without performing any additional steps.

Configuring the operating system for the first time -----------You may need to configure the operating system when it is first used.

To open the settings, do the following: • Open the start menu, and then select Settings . Personalize the start menu You can personalize the start menu with your favorite apps. To personalize the start menu, do the following: 1 Open the start menu and find the apps list on the left.
Chapter 2. Starting to use Windows 10 Putting the computer to sleep or shutting it down -------------When you have finished working with your computer, you can put it to sleep or shut it down. Putting your computer to sleep If you will be away from your computer for only a short time, put the computer to sleep. When the computer is in sleep mode, you can quickly wake it to resume use, bypassing the startup process. To put the computer to sleep, do one of the following: • Close the display lid.

To shut down the computer, do one of the following: • Open the start menu, and then select Power Shut down. • Right‐click the Start button in the lower‐left corner and select Shut down or sign out Shut down.

Starting to use Windows 10 Task and desktop management ----------------------------------------------- Task view To open the task view, do one of the following: • Select the Task view button • Press the Windows key on the task bar. + Tab. Virtual desktop management Windows 10 supports the ability to create, manage and switch between virtual desktops. To create a new virtual desktop, do one of the following: • Open the task view, and then select New desktop.

Starting to use Windows 10 Connecting to a wireless network -------------------------------------------Enabling wireless connection To enable wireless functions, do the following: 1 Press F7 ( 2 Click ) to disable airplane mode. on the lower‐right corner of the task bar to open the network configuration page. Connecting to a wireless network After wireless has been enabled, the computer will automatically scan for available wireless networks and display them in the wireless network list.

Starting to use Windows 10 Touch screen operation (on select models) --------------------------The display panel can accept inputs like a tablet, using the multi‐touch screen, or like a traditional notebook computer, using the keyboard and touchpad. Multi-touch gestures You can touch the screen with one or more fingertips to perform a variety of tasks. Frequently used gestures Tasks performed Tap Tap once on an item.

Zooms in and out on visual apps, such as pictures and maps. Can also jump to the beginning or end of a list. Rotate Place two or more fingers on an item and then turn your hand. Rotates an object (Note: Not all items can be rotated, depending upon the app.). Slide Drag your finger across the screen. Pans or scrolls through lists and pages.

Swiping in from the left edge of the screen can open the task view. Swiping in from the right edge of the screen displays the action center.

This preserves their data and important customizations, without the need to back up their data in advance.

Chapter 4. Troubleshooting How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is Compact enabled? Compact technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) ‐only computer models. To check your computer, 1 Right‐click the Start button in the lower‐left corner and select Disk Management. 2 The Disk Management program starts. If Compact is labeled on the Windows partition, Compact is enabled on your copy of Windows.

Troubleshooting Troubleshooting ---------------------------------------------------------------------------Display problems When I turn on the computer, nothing appears on the screen. • If the screen is blank, make sure that: ‐ The AC power adapter is connected to the computer, and plugged into a working electrical outlet. ‐ The computer power is on. (Press the Power button again for confirmation.) • If these items are properly set, and the screen remains blank, have the computer serviced.
Chapter 4. Troubleshooting Sleep problems The critical low-battery error message appears, and the computer immediately turns off. • The battery power is getting low. Connect the AC power adapter to the computer. The computer enters sleep mode immediately after Power-on self-test (POST). • Make sure that: ‐ The battery pack is charged. ‐ The operating temperature is within the acceptable range. See “Chapter 2. Use and care Information” in the Lenovo Safety and General Information Guide.
Chapter 4. Troubleshooting Sound problems No sound can be heard from the speaker even when the volume is turned up. • Make sure that: ‐ The Mute function is off. ‐ The combo audio jack is not being used. ‐ Speakers are selected as the playback device. Battery pack problems Your computer shuts down before the battery status indicator shows empty. -orYour computer operates after the battery status indicator shows empty. • Discharge and recharge the battery pack.
Chapter 4. Troubleshooting Other problems Your computer does not respond. • To turn off your computer, press and hold the Power button for four seconds or more. If the computer still does not respond, remove the AC power adapter. • Your computer might lock when it enters sleep mode during a communication operation. Disable the sleep timer when you are working on the network. The computer does not start from a device you want. • See the Boot menu of the BIOS setup utility.
