Puttingyourcomputerintosleepstateorshuttingitdown
Whenyounishworkingwithyourcomputer,youcanputitintosleepstateorshutitdown.
Puttingyourcomputerintosleepstate
Ifyouwillbeawayfromyourcomputerforonlyashorttime,putthecomputerintosleepstate.Whenthe
computerisinsleepstate,youcanquicklywakeittoresumeuse,andbypassthestartupprocess.
Toputthecomputerintosleepstate,doeitherofthefollowing:
ClickandselectSleepfromtheStartmenu.
PressFn+F1.
Note:Waituntilthepowerindicatorlightstartsblinking(indicatingthatthecomputerisinsleepstate)
beforeyoumoveyourcomputer.Movingyourcomputerwhiletheharddiskdriveisspinningcandamage
theharddiskdrive,causinglossofdata.
Towakethecomputer,doeitherofthefollowing:
Pressthepowerbutton.
Pressanykeyonthekeyboard.
Shuttingdownyourcomputer
Ifyouarenotgoingtouseyourcomputerforadayortwo,shutitdown.
Toshutdownyourcomputer,clickandselectShutdownfromtheStartmenu.
Usingacpoweradapterandbattery
Thissectionprovidesinformationabouthowtousetheacpoweradapterandthebatteryforyourcomputer.

Youcandeterminethepercentageofbatterypowerremainingbycheckingthebatteryiconinthenotication
area.
Notes:Aseachcomputeruserhasdifferenthabitsandneeds,itisdifculttopredicthowlongabattery
chargewilllast.Therearetwomainfactors:
Theamountofenergystoredinthebatterywhenyoucommencework.
Thewayyouuseyourcomputer:forexample,howoftenyouaccesstheharddiskdriveandhowbright
youmakethecomputerdisplay.
Chargingthebattery
Whenyoundthatthebatterypowerislow,youneedtochargethebatteryorreplaceitwithafully
chargedone.
