areas(withelectro-explosivedevices),medicalimplantsorbody-wornelectronicmedicaldevices,such
aspacemakers.
•Inanyotherenvironmentwheretheriskofinterferencetootherdevicesorservicesisperceivedor
identiedasharmful.
Ifyouareuncertainofthepolicythatappliestotheuseofwirelessdevicesinaspecicorganization(suchas
airportorhospital),youareencouragedtoaskforauthorizationtouseintegratedwirelesscardspriorto
turningonthecomputer.
SafetyinformationrelatedtoMobileBroadband
1.DonotusetheMobileBroadbandfeatureonyourcomputerinhighlyammableareas(e.g.gasstation)
ornearblasting.Thoughitisrare,theMobileBroadbandmodule,likeothercellularnetworkdevices,
couldgenerateaspark.
2.AvoidusingMobileBroadbandfeatureoutdoorsduringathunderstorm.
3.Useofmobiledevicesonboardaircraftisexplicitlyprohibitedbymanyairlinescompanies,especially
duringtake-offandlanding.Thebuilt-inMobileBroadbandmoduleonyourcomputerisalow-power
radiotransceiver.Whenitisturnedon,itintermittentlyreceivesandtransmitsradiofrequency(RF)
energywhichcouldcauseinterferencewiththeoperationoftheairplanecommunicationornavigation
system.RefertorulesorregulationsofyourairlinecompanyforMobileBroadbanduse.Neverenable
MobileBroadbandfeatureonyourcomputerunlessyouareexplicitlypermittedtodoso.
4.Followrestrictionswhenusingyourcomputerinhospitals.Someequipmentsinhospitalsare
sophisticatedandaresusceptibletoelectromagneticinterference.DonotenableMobileBroadband
featurenearmedicalequipmentwithoutrequestingpermission.
5.TheMobileBroadbandcommunicationmayaffecttheoperationofimplantedcardiacpacemakersand
othermedicallyimplantedequipment.Patientswithcardiacpacemakersshouldbewellawarethatuse
ofMobileBroadbandfeatureonthiscomputermaycausetheimplanteddevicetomalfunction.If
patientshaveanydoubtthatthereisinterferencetakingplace,immediatelydisablethewirelessradioon
thecomputerandcontactthedoctorformoreinformation.
6.TheMobileBroadbandmoduleembeddedinyourcomputerdoesnotsupportvoicecalls,hencetheir
useforessentialcommunicationsisnotpossible.Thereforeyoushouldneverrelyuponthedevice
foressentialcommunications.
