Chapter 1. About the dock This chapter contains product information about the Lenovo® ThunderboltTM 3 Graphics Dock (hereafter called dock). 1.1 Features The dock is a portable expansion module. It can greatly improve your computer graphics performance with an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 (4 GB GDDR5) Graphics Card installed in the dock. It can also easily connect your computer to the Ethernet and multiple devices, such as a microphone, a monitor, and a Universal Serial Bus (USB) device.
Always On USB 3.0 connector Charge some mobile digital devices when the dock is connected to the power supply. The Always On USB 3.0 connector can supply power up to 2.4 A during the charging process. Note: For the wireless keyboard and mouse, it is recommended that you connect the USB receiver of the wireless keyboard or mouse to the USB 2.0 connector of the dock.
Chapter 2. Setting up the dock This chapter provides information to help you set up the dock. 2.1 Connecting the dock to your computer To connect the dock to your computer, do the following: Notes: • Ensure that you use the Thunderbolt 3 cable and power adapter that come with your dock. • It is recommended that you put the dock flat on the table. Do not put it upside down, or stand on the side of the dock. 1. Connect the ac power adapter to the power cord . 2.
b. Find and click the icon for NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050 . A window is displayed with a list of the programs that are using the graphics card. c. Save and close the programs that are using the graphics card. 2. Safely disconnect the Thunderbolt 3 cable of the dock from your computer. 2.3 Installing the device driver on Windows operating systems After setting up the dock, download the latest dock device drivers from the Lenovo Web site http://www.lenovo.com/support/docks.
Chapter 3. Using the dock This chapter provides information to help you use the dock. Note: Before using the dock, ensure that you are using a Microsoft® Windows® 10 computer. 3.1 Using the headset and microphone combo connector To manually enable the headset and microphone combo connector on the dock, do the following: 1. Right-click the speaker icon in the Windows notification area. A pop-up menu opens. 2.
2. Depending on your Control Panel mode, do one of the following: • Click Display ➙ Change display settings. • Click Appearance and Personalization ➙ Display ➙ Change display settings. 3. In the Orientation drop-down list box, select one of the following options: • Landscape: The external display remains the same as your computer display. • Portrait: The external display rotates 90 degrees to the left. • Landscape (flipped): The external display becomes upside-down.
Chapter 4. Troubleshooting This chapter provides some troubleshooting hints and tips to assist you if you experience any problems with the dock. Check the following items first to try to solve the problem. 4.1 General 1. The dock does not work after connected to a computer with the provided Thunderbolt 3 cable. Ensure that the dock is well powered by its power adapter.
If the problem persists, disconnect all connections of the dock, and uninstall the dock device driver. Then, reinstall the device driver and the dock. See Chapter 3 “Using the dock” on page 8. 2. I cannot play back videos on the external monitor but can play them back on the computer monitor. Some computers do not support the Certified Output Protection Protocol (COPP), and you cannot play back the protected videos on the external monitor connected to the dock.
