Attention: • When closing the display panel, be careful not to leave pens or any other objects in between the display panel and the keyboard. Otherwise, the display panel may be damaged.

Built-in microphone (with noise reduction) Captures sound which can be used for video conferencing, voice narration, or audio recording. Wireless LAN antennas Connect to a wireless LAN adapter to send and receive wireless radio signals. Computer display Provides brilliant visual output. Power button Press this button to turn on the computer.

To use this function, press and hold Fn ; then press one of the function keys The following describes the features of each function key. Fn + Home: Activates the pause function. Fn + End: Activates the break function. Fn + PgUp: Enables/disables the scroll lock. Fn + PgDn: Activates the insert function. 3 .

Getting to know your computer Hotkeys You can access certain system settings quickly by pressing the appropriate hotkeys. : Mutes/unmutes the sound. : Enables/disables Airplane mode. : Decreases the volume level. : Displays all currently active apps. : Increases the volume level. : Turns on/off the backlight of the LCD screen. : Closes the currently active window. : Toggles the display between the computer and an external device.

USB 3.0 port Connects to USB devices. Note: For details, see “Connecting USB device” on page 6. HDMI port Connects to devices with HDMI input such as a TV or an external display. Micro SD card slot Accepts a micro SD card (not supplied).
Chapter 1. Getting to know your computer Connecting USB device Your computer comes with three USB ports compatible with USB devices. The first time you plug a USB device into a particular USB port on your computer, Windows automatically installs a driver for that device. After the driver has been installed, you can disconnect and reconnect the device without performing any additional steps.
Chapter 1. Getting to know your computer Using a micro SD card (not supplied) Your computer supports micro Secure Digital (SD) cards. Notes: • Insert only one card into the slot at a time. • This card reader does not support SDIO devices (e.g., SDIO Bluetooth, etc.). Inserting a card Slide the card in until it clicks into place. Removing a card 1 Push the card in until you hear a click. 2 Gently pull the memory card out of the slot.

Notes: • The combo audio jack does not support conventional microphones. • The recording function might not be supported if third-party headphones or headsets are connected, due to different industry standards. Chapter 2. Starting to use Windows 10 Configuring the operating system for the first time ----------------You may need to configure the operating system when it is first used.
Chapter 2. Starting to use Windows 10 Settings Settings lets you perform basic tasks. You can also search for more settings with the settings search box in the upper-right corner. To open the settings, do the following: • Open the start menu, and then select Settings . Personalize the start menu You can personalize the start menu with your favorite apps. To personalize the start menu, do the following: 1 Open the start menu, and then select All apps to display the apps list.
Chapter 2. Starting to use Windows 10 Putting the computer to sleep or shutting it down -------------------When you have finished working with your computer, you can put it to sleep or shut it down. Putting your computer to sleep If you will be away from your computer for only a short time, put the computer to sleep. When the computer is in sleep mode, you can quickly wake it to resume use, bypassing the startup process. To put the computer to sleep, do one of the following: • Close the display lid.

To shut down the computer, do one of the following: • Open the start menu, and then select Power Shut down. • Right-click the Start button in the lower-left corner and select Shut down or sign out Shut down.

Starting to use Windows 10 Task and desktop management ------------------------------------------------------------------ Task view To open the task view, do one of the following: • Select the Task view button • Press the Windows key on the task bar. + Tab. Virtual desktop management Windows 10 supports the ability to create, manage and switch between virtual desktops. To create a new virtual desktop, do one of the following: • Open the task view, and then select New desktop.

Starting to use Windows 10 Connecting to a wireless network -----------------------------------------------------------Enabling wireless connection To enable wireless functions, do the following: 1 Press F7 ( 2 Click ) to disable airplane mode. on the lower-right corner of the task bar to open the network configuration page.
Chapter 3. Recovery system Introduction Push-button reset is a built-in recovery tool that enables users to restore their operating system to its original state. This preserves their data and important customizations, without the need to back up their data in advance. The following Push-button reset features are available to users from multiple locations within Windows: Refreshing the computer Fixes software problems by reinstalling the factory default configuration.
Chapter 3. Recovery system I uninstalled a preinstalled software, but there is no significant increase in the free drive space. The copy of Windows running on your computer may be WIMBoot-enabled. For computers with WIMBoot-enabled Windows, the majority of files needed for preinstalled software are installed on the Recovery Partition and won’t be deleted through normal uninstallation.

Chapter 4. Troubleshooting When do I need to change the boot mode? The default boot mode for your computer is UEFI mode. If you need to install a legacy operating system, such as Windows, Linux or Dos, etc. (that is, any operating system before Windows 8) on your computer, you must change the boot mode to Legacy Support. The legacy operating system, such as Windows, Linux or Dos, etc. cannot be installed if you don't change the boot mode.

Troubleshooting Troubleshooting ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Display problems When I turn on the computer, nothing appears on the screen. • • The screen goes blank while the computer is on. • If the screen is blank, make sure that: - The AC power adapter is connected to the computer, and plugged into a working electrical outlet. - The computer power is on. (Press the Power button again for confirmation.
Chapter 4. Troubleshooting Sleep problems The critical low-battery error message appears, and the computer immediately turns off. • The battery power is getting low. Connect the AC power adapter to the computer. The computer enters sleep mode immediately after Power-on self-test (POST). • Make sure that: - The battery pack is charged. - The operating temperature is within the acceptable range. See “Chapter 2. Use and care Information” in the Lenovo Safety and General Information Guide.
Chapter 4. Troubleshooting Sound problems No sound can be heard from the speaker even when the volume is turned up. • Make sure that: - The Mute function is off. - The combo audio jack is not being used. - Speakers are selected as the playback device. Your computer shuts down before the battery status indicator shows empty. -orYour computer operates after the battery status indicator shows empty. • Discharge and recharge the battery pack.

Troubleshooting Other problems Your computer does not respond. • • The computer does not start from a device you want. • • • The connected external device does not work. • • To turn off your computer, press and hold the Power button for four seconds or more. If the computer still does not respond, remove the AC power adapter. Your computer might lock when it enters sleep mode during a communication operation. Disable the sleep timer when you are working on the network.
