Securitychipfunction
Notes:
•Thesecuritychipdoesnotguaranteecompleteprotectionofdataorhardware.Alwaysexercise
appropriatecautionwhenmanagingandhandlingimportantdata.
•Inadditiontothesecuritychipfunction,werecommendconfiguringsupervisoranduserpasswordsin
theBIOSSetupUtility.
•Whenperformingcomputerrecovery,reinstallingtheoperatingsystem,resetting,orusingaseparately
soldoperatingsystem,initializethesecuritychipbeforeenablingit.
Beforesendingyourcomputerforrepair
Whenyousendyourcomputerforrepair,besuretocancelsupervisoranduserpasswordsettingsinthe
BIOSSetupUtilityandinitializethesecuritychiptopreventinformationfrombeingdivulged.
Refertothefollowingproceduresforsecuritychipinitialization.
IftheWindowsBitLockerdriveencryptionisused,firstdisableitandtheninitializethesecuritychip.
1.TurnonthepowerandimmediatelypresstheF2keyseveraltimes.TheBIOSSetupUtilitywillthenbe
displayed.
2.IntheSecuritymenu,selectSecurityChipConfigurationandpressEnter.
3.ConfirmthatCurrentTPMStateissettoEnabled&Activated.IfCurrentTPMStateisnotsetto
Enabled&Activated,enablethesecuritychip,see“Enablethesecuritychip”onpage17.
4.SetChangeTPMStatetoClear.
5.PresstheF10key.Aconfirmationmessageisdisplayed.
6.SelectYesandthenpressEnter.ThesettingsaresavedandtheBIOSSetupUtilityexits.
7.Ifaconfirmationscreenisdisplayedafterthecomputerrestarts,pressShift+F10.Thesettingsare
savedandthecomputerrestarts.
Thesecuritychipisnowinitialized.
Enablethesecuritychip
Afterinitializingthesecuritychip,dothefollowingtoenableitforuseagain.
1.TurnonthepowerandimmediatelypresstheF2keyseveraltimes.TheBIOSSetupUtilitywillthenbe
displayed.
2.IntheSecuritymenu,selectSecurityChipConfigurationandpressEnter.
3.ConfirmthatTPMSupportissettoEnabled.IfitissettoDisabled,changeittoEnabled.
4.SetChangeTPMStatetoEnable&Activate.
5.PresstheF10key.Aconfirmationmessageisdisplayed.
6.SelectYesandthenpressEnter.ThesettingsaresavedandtheBIOSSetupUtilityexits.
7.AftertheWindowssystemhasstarted,restartthecomputer.
Thefeaturesofthesecuritychiparenowenabled.
