Theacpoweradapterthatcomeswithyourcomputerhastwobasiccomponents:
•Thetransformerpackthatconvertsacpowerforusewiththecomputer.
•Thepowercordthatplugsintotheacoutletandintothetransformerpack.
Attention:Usinganimproperpowercordcouldcauseseveredamagetothecomputer.
Connectingtheacpoweradapter
Toconnecttheacpoweradapter,dothefollowing:
1.Plugthepowercordintoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Connectthepowercordtothetransformerpack.
3.Connecttheacpoweradaptertotheacpowerconnectorofthecomputer.
Tipsonusingtheacpoweradapter
Observethefollowingguidelineswhenusingtheacpoweradapter:
•Whentheacpoweradapterisnotinuse,disconnectitfromtheelectricaloutlet.
•Donotbindthepowercordtightlyaroundtheacpoweradaptertransformerpackwhenitisconnectedto
thetransformer.
•Beforeyouchargethebattery,makesurethatitstemperatureisatleast10°C(50°F).
•Youcanchargethebatterywhentheacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputerandthebatteryis
installed.Chargeitinanyofthefollowingconditions:
–Whenyoupurchaseanewbattery
–Ifthebatterymeteratthebottomofyourdisplayindicatesalowbatterychargelevel
–Ifthebatteryhasnotbeenusedforalongtime
Chargingthebattery
Itisrecommendedthatyouchargethebatteryorreplaceitwithachargedbatteryonanyofthefollowing
conditions:
•Thepercentageofbatterypowerremainingislow.
•Thepoweralarmalertsyouthattheremainingpowerislow.
Maximizingthebatterylife
Tomaximizethebatterylife,dothefollowing:
•Usethebatteryuntilthechargeisdepleted;thatis,usethebatteryuntilthebatterystatusindicator
startsblinkingorange.
•Fullyrechargethebatterybeforeusingit.Thebatteryisfullychargedifthebatteryindicatorshowssolid
greenwhentheacpoweradapterispluggedin.
•Alwaysusepowermanagementfeaturessuchaspowermodes,sleep,andhibernation.
Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanuseatanytimetoconservepower.Thistopicintroduceseachmode
andgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofthebatterypower.
Sleepmode
Ifyouarenotgoingtousethecomputerforashorttime,putthecomputerintosleepmode.Whenthe
computerisinsleepmode,youcanwakeituptoresumeuseandbypassthestartupprocess.
