OntheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.ClickStart➙ControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.IfanexclamationmarkisdisplayednexttoanadapternameunderNetworkadapters,youmight
notbeusingthecorrectdriverorthedriverisnotenabled.Toupdatethedriver,right-clickthe
highlightedadapter.
5.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
OntheWindows8orWindows8.1operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.IfanexclamationmarkisdisplayednexttoanadapternameunderNetworkadapters,youmight
notbeusingthecorrectdriverorthedriverisnotenabled.Toupdatethedriver,right-clickthe
highlightedadapter.
5.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
•Theswitchportandtheadapterhavethesameduplexsetting.
Ifyouconguredtheadapterforfullduplex,ensurethattheswitchportisalsoconguredforfullduplex.
Settingthewrongduplexmodecandegradeperformance,causedataloss,orresultinlostconnections.
•Youhaveinstalledallnetworkingsoftwarethatisnecessaryforyournetworkenvironment.
CheckwithyourLANadministratorforthenecessarynetworkingsoftware.
Theadapterstopsworkingfornoapparentreason
Symptom:Theadapterstopsworkingfornoapparentreason.
Action:Thenetworkdriverlesmaybecorruptormissing.Updatethedriverbyreferringtothe“Solution”
descriptionfortheproceduretoensurethatthecorrectdevicedriverisinstalled.
TheWakeonLANfeatureisnotworking
Symptom:TheWakeonLAN(WOL)featureisnotworking.
Actions:
•EnsurethatWOLisenabledintheBIOSSetupUtilityprogram.
•Ifitis,checkwithyourLANadministratorforthenecessarysettings.
IfyourcomputerisaGigabitEthernetmodelandyouuseaspeedof1000Mbps,theconnection
failsorerrorsoccur
Symptom:IfyourcomputerisaGigabitEthernetmodelandyouuseaspeedof1000Mbps,theconnection
failsorerrorsoccur.
Actions:
•UseCategory5wiringandensurethatthenetworkcableissecurelyconnected.
•Connecttoa1000BASE-Thub/switch(not1000BASE-X).
