WhenaUserPasswordisset,thecomputercannotbeuseduntilavalidpasswordistypedfromthe
keyboard.
AdministratorPassword
SettinganAdministratorPassworddetersunauthorizedusersfromchangingcongurationsettings.Ifyou
areresponsibleformaintainingthesettingsofseveralcomputers,youmightwanttosetanAdministrator
Password.
AfteryousetanAdministratorPassword,apasswordpromptisdisplayedeachtimeyoutrytoaccessthe
SetupUtilityprogram.
Ifboththeuserandadministratorpasswordsareset,youcantypeeitherpassword.However,tochange
anycongurationsettings,youmustuseyouradministratorpassword.
Setting,changing,anddeletingapassword
Toset,change,ordeleteapassword,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage17.
2.FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectSecurity➙SetPasswords.
3.Followtheinstructionsdisplayedontherightsideofthescreentoset,change,ordeletethepassword
youwant.
Note:Apasswordcanbeanycombinationofupto12(1to12)alphabeticandnumericcharacters.

Enablingordisablingadevice
Youcanenableordisableuseraccesstoadevice.
ICHSATAControllerWhenthisfeatureissettoDisabled,anyopticaldrivesoreSATAdevicesaredisabled
andwillnotbedisplayedinthesystemconguration.
MarvellSATA/SAS
Controller
WhenthisfeatureissettoDisabled,allinternalharddiskdrivesaredisabledand
willnotbedisplayedinthesystemconguration.Whendisablingthisfeature,make
sureyoursystemhasanalternatebootmethod,suchasLANPXEboot,orabootable
oppydiskette,memorykey,oropticaldisc.
LegacydisketteA
WhenthisfeatureissettoDisabled,thediskettedrivecannotbeaccessed.
TosettheICHSATAControllerorMarvellSATA/SASController,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage17.
2.Dependingonwhichdeviceyouwanttoset,selecteitherDevices➙SAS/SATADriveSetup➙ICH
SATAControllerorDevices➙SAS/SATADriveSetup➙MarvellSATA/SASControllerfromthe
SetupUtilityprogrammenu.
3.SelectthedesiredsettingsandpressEnter.
4.ReturntotheSetupUtilityprogrammenuandselectExit➙SaveandexittheSetupUtility.
