•RestoreyourharddiskdrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackupIfyouhavebackedupyourharddisk
driveusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogram,youcanrestoretheharddiskdrivefromaRescueand
Recoverybackup,evenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.
•RestoreyourharddiskdrivetothefactorydefaultsettingsTheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenables
youtorestorethecompletecontentsofyourharddiskdrivetothefactorydefaultsettings.Ifyouhave
multiplepartitionsonyourharddiskdrive,youhavetheoptiontorestorethefactorydefaultsettingstothe
C:partitionandleavetheotherpartitionsintact.BecausetheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceoperates
independentlyfromtheWindowsoperatingsystem,youcanrestorethefactorydefaultsettingsevenif
youcannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.
Attention:IfyourestoretheharddiskdrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackuporrestoretheharddisk
drivetothefactorydefaultsettings,alllesontheprimaryharddiskdrivepartition(usuallydriveC:)willbe
deletedintherecoveryprocess.Ifpossible,makecopiesofimportantles.Ifyouareunabletostartthe
Windowsoperatingsystem,youcanusetheRescuelesfeatureintheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceto
copylesfromyourharddiskdrivetoothermedia.
TostarttheRescueandRecoveryworkspace,dothefollowing:
1.Makesurethecomputeristurnedoff.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF11keywhenturningonthecomputer.
3.Whenyouhearbeepsorseealogoscreen,releasetheF11key.
4.IfyouhavesetaRescueandRecoverypassword,typeyourpasswordwhenprompted.TheRescue
andRecoveryworkspaceopensafterashortdelay.

5.Dooneofthefollowing:
•Torescuelesfromyourharddiskdriveorfromabackup,clickRescuelesandfollowthe
instructionsonthescreen.
•TorestoreyourharddiskdrivefromaRescueandRecoverybackuportorestoreyourharddiskdrive
tothefactorydefaultsettings,clickRestoreyoursystemandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
FormoreinformationaboutthefeaturesoftheRescueandRecoveryworkspace,clickHelp.

1.Afterrestoringaharddiskdrivetothefactorydefaultsettings,youmighthavetoreinstalldevicedrivers

2.SomecomputerscomewithMicrosoftOfceorMicrosoftWorkspreinstalled.Ifyouneedtorecover
orreinstallyourMicrosoftOfceorMicrosoftWorksapplications,youmustusetheMicrosoftOfce
CDorMicrosoftWorksCD.TheseCDsareprovidedonlywithcomputerspreinstalledwithMicrosoft
OfceorMicrosoftWorks.
Creatingandusingrescuemedia
Withrescuemedia,suchasadiscoraUSBharddiskdrive,youcanrecoverthecomputerfromfailuresthat
preventyoufromgainingaccesstotheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceonyourharddiskdrive.
Notes:
1.Therecoveryoperationsyoucanperformusingrescuemediavarydependingontheoperatingsystem.
2.TherescuediscscanbestartedinanytypeofCDorDVDdrive.
3.YoucanalsorunthePC-DoctorforRescueandRecoverydiagnosticprogram,afterusingarescue
mediumtorecoverthecomputerfromfailuresandgainingaccesstotheRescueandRecovery
workspace.
