4.Followthissequencetoremovetheheatsinkfromthesystemboard:
a.Partiallyremovescrew1,thenfullyremovescrew2,andfullyremovescrew1.
b.Partiallyremovescrew3,thenfullyremovescrew4,andfullyremovescrew3.
5.Carefullylifttheheatsinkoffofthesystemboard.
6.Removetheplasticcoverfromthebottomofthenewheatsinktoexposetheheatsinkgrease(this
coverprotectstheheatsinkgreasefromcontamination).
Notes:
a.Donotremovetheplasticcoveruntilyouarereadytoinstalltheheatsinkandfanassemblyonthe
microprocessor.Donottouchthegreaseontheheatsinkandfanassembly.Donotputtheheat
sinkandfanassemblyanywhereexceptonthemicroprocessoraftertheplasticcoverhasbeen
removedandthegreaseexposed.
b.Someheatsinkpartnumberswillhaveorientationlabelsshowing"FrontofSystem."HeatSinksthat
donothaveorientationlabelsshouldbeorientedsothefancableistowardtheboardconnector
labeled"CPUFan."
7.Placethenewheatsinkintoposition.
Important:Donottouchthethermalgreasewhilehandlingtheheatsink.
8.Alignthefourscrewsontheheatsinkwiththefourmountingstudsinthechassis.
9.Followthissequencetoinstallthescrews,notingthatfullytightis5in-lbs+/-0.5in-lbs:
a.Partiallytightenscrew1,thenfullytightenscrew2,andfullytightenscrew1.
b.Partiallytightenscrew3,thenfullytightenscrew4,andfullytightenscrew3.
