Makesuretheserialcableissecurelyconnectedtotheserialportonthecomputerandtotheserialdevice.
Iftheserialdevicehasitsownpowercord,makesureitisattachedtoaproperlygroundedelectricaloutlet.
IftheserialdevicehasitsownOn/Offswitch,makesureitisintheOnposition.
IftheserialdevicehasanOnlineswitch,makesureitisintheOnlineposition.
Iftheserialdeviceisaprinter,makesurepaperisloadedcorrectly.
Verifythatanysoftwaresuppliedwiththeserialdeviceiscorrectlyinstalled.Refertothedocumentation
fortheserial-deviceoption.
Makesurethattheserial-portadapter,ifyouaddedone,isproperlyinstalledandrmlyseated.
