Runningthediagnosticprogramfromthediagnosticdisc
Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtorunthediagnosticprogramfromthediagnosticdiscthat
youcreated.
Torunthediagnosticprogramfromthediagnosticdiscthatyoucreated,dothefollowing:
1.Makesureyourcomputeristurnedoff.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF12keywhenturningonthecomputer.WhentheStartupDevice
Menuopens,releasetheF12key.
3.Insertthediagnosticdiscintotheopticaldrive.
4.SelecttheopticaldrivewiththediagnosticdiscasthestartupdeviceandpressEnter.Thediagnostic
programopens.
5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentorunthedesireddiagnostictest.Foradditionalhelp,press
theF1key.
6.Removethediagnosticdiscfromtheopticaldriveaftercompletingthediagnostictest.
Navigatingthroughthediagnosticprograms
Usethecursormovementkeystonavigatewithinthemenus.
•TheEnterkeyisusedtoselectamenuitem.
•TheEsckeyisusedtobackuptothepreviousmenu.
•Foronlinehelp,selectF1.
Runningtests
Therearefourwaystorunthediagnostictests.
•Usingthecursormovementkeys,highlightRunNormalTestorRunQuickTestfromtheDiagnostics
menuandthenpressEnter.Thisautomaticallyrunsapre-denedgroupoftestsfromeachtestcategory.
RunNormalTestrunsamoreextensivesetofteststhanRunQuickTestdoesandtakeslongerto
complete.
•PressF5toautomaticallyrunallselectedtestsinallcategories.
•Fromwithinatestcategory,pressCtrl-Entertoautomaticallyrunonlytheselectedtestsinthatcategory.
•Usingthecursormovementkeys,highlightasingletestwithinatestcategory,andthenpressEnter.
Thisrunsonlythattest.
PressEscatanytimetostopthetestingprocess.
Testresults(N/A,PASSED,FAILED,ABORTED)aredisplayedintheeldbesidethetestdescriptionandin
thetestlog.See“Viewingthetestlog”onpage42.
